Making Up the Bed The items needed to make up the bed are a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, 2 pillowcases, a blanket, and a duvet. 1. Get the fitted sheet and find the tag. Place the fitted sheet on the bed, placing the ends and sides under the mattress. 2. Place the flat sheet on the bed and tuck the bottom under the mattress. Fold the top of the sheet back evenly. 3. Place the blanket on the bed and make sure it is even and neat. Fold the top of the blanket back even with the flat sheet. 4. Place the duvet on the bed, tuck the flat sheet and blanket in the pocket of the duvet, and fold halfway on the fold. 5. Place the pillowcases on the pillow and tuck the ends inside neatly. Then place the pillows leaning against the headboard. 2 pillows on each side of the bed. Troubleshooting: If the fitted sheet won’t pull onto the mattress, turn the fitted until it fits on the mattress without a struggle. If at any point the bedding looks too small, turn the pieces a different way.
Usability Test 1. How can my draft be improved? The draft can be improved by using pictures and making your instructions clearer like you’re writing instructions for someone who has never made a bed. 2. Are my tasks easy to follow? Your tasks are easy to follow but only because I am a manager at a hotel, and I’ve been in the hotel business for 10 years. 3. How well is the page formatted? The page is formatted well but I would list everything needed to make up the bed. 4. Is my communication sufficient? Your communication can be a little more detailed so that a person who has never made a bed can understand. Also, you said 2 pillowcases were needed but wanted 2 pillows on each side of the bed.
How to Make up the Bed Items needed: 4 pillowcases Fitted Sheet Flat Sheet Duvet Blanket Instructions: 1. Clear everything from the bed. 2. Add the fitted sheet to the bed. The fitted sheet sides are elastic, and one side is longer than the other to determine the sides from the top and bottom. Make sure you put this sheet on tight to avoid wrinkles. Lift the mattress slightly as you go, to tuck it in as well as possible. 3. Add the flat sheet. Find the side of the flat sheet that is hemmed to place at the head of the bed and spread it out so that it is even on both sides. Tuck the sheet that is hanging from the foot of the bed under the mattress. 4. Add the blanket to the bed. Make sure it hangs even on both sides. 5. Add the duvet to the bed. Make sure it hangs even on both sides. 6. Fold the sheets and blanket over the duvet. This makes it look presentable. 7. Place the pillowcases on the pillow and tuck the leftover pillowcase inside the pillow. Place 2 pillows on each side of the bed leaning against the headboard. Troubleshooting: If at any point the bedding looks too small, turn the pieces a different way. Everything is made to go to bed a certain way. The longer side is for the sides and the shorter side is for the head and foot of the bed.

What I learned: I learned that although my instructions are easy for me to understand, they may not be easy for someone else to understand. When writing instructions, they should be written for a person who has never done it before. Instructions should be precise and easy to follow. My first set of instructions was rushed and written for my understanding. I think my final draft is easier to read and understand, even for me.
