Report
1 Values and Ethics in Conflict Resolution Constance N. Barnes Department of Human and Social Services, Walden University Intro to Dynamics of Conflict Dr. Moran November 03, 2023
2 For this week’s Journal, explain how you interpret the ethical practices of neutrality and confidentiality in the ACR Ethical Principles. Based on the principles listed, confidentiality is a form of privacy in which the contents of every mediation are kept private unless all participants agree to share those details. Neutrality is considered as one being objective and fair. This means performing reverently as it relates to the interests, partialities, and morals of the partakers, allowing them to be heard and measured alike. Both these practices are to guard and support the patients' best interests. Neutrality also represents impartiality and the ability to be transparent. It refers to the ability to suggest solid explanations for ethical rights to provide laborious explanations and decisive advice regarding ethical values, official guidelines, and experiential evidence. Then, explain the personal values that will guide your conflict resolution practice. Include whether you think your values influenced your TKI self-assessment. Personal values require integrity, which means acting in a way that aligns with personal ethical standards; sometimes, I may have moral opposition against certain situations and need to seek from a colleague. There may also be situations where I feel ethically indebted to speak up. I can offer some insight and give a personal opinion, allowing further discussion if needed. However, I would always follow a selfless concentration in the consultation, remembering to act in the best interests of the parties at all times. My values influenced my TKI self-assessment because I tend to avoid conflict. While it is always my intention to be collaborative, there are many times that I will become avoidant to decrease tension. Finally, explain how and from whom you will seek ethical guidance within your professional practice.
3 In my career field, I would seek ethical guidance from fellow clinicians in the office who may have more in-depth experience with situations requiring mediation than I have. I would meet with a supervisor monthly to discuss issues that have presented themselves ethically, professionally, or personally. I would also stay updated on any material that has been updated regarding ethical dilemmas and ways in which a clinician can stay ethically reformed.
