Q1: List the steps necessary to create an inspection and Testing Plan (ITP) using safety considerations of NDT
.
Define the project’s scope :-
Define the scope of the work clearly, together with the location, type of machinery, equipment or structure to be tested, and NDT techniques to be applied.
Conduct hazard assessment :- Determine the possibility of radiation or hazardous material exposure as well as any potential hazard related to the NDT procedure.
Establish NDT requirements :- Determine the precise NDT requirements for the project, including the frequency of inspections and the acceptance standards.
Select NDT techniques :- Select the appropriate techniques based on the project parameters and results of the hazard assessment.
Establish the equipment and personnel :- Establish the equipment and manpower required for the NDT process.
Create safety protocols :- Develop protocols for carrying out the NDT process in a safe manner, including guidelines for emergency.
Review and approve :- Examine the ITP and obtain approval from the relevant stakeholders, NDT staff and regulatory agencies.
Q2 : List Five advantages of using Quality Control and Compliance considerations
.
Improved customer satisfaction :- By ensuring that products and services meet high quality standards, customer satisfaction will likely increase.
Higher profitability :- The risk of product failure and customer complaints is decreased by producing items that are of higher.
Improved brand reputation :- Offering high quality goods and services that comply with regulations can improve a business’s reputation.
Regulation Compliance :- By including quality control and compliance considerations, businesses can reduce their risk of fines and legal action.
Increased process efficiency :- By identifying and removing inefficiencies from company operations, a quality control program can help increase productivity and efficiency.
Q3 : Imagine you are a quality supervisor in the submarine project and have been requested to create a testing plan for the NDT job. What are the NDT tests to consider constructing a submarine, and why?
Magnetic particle testing :- Magnetic particles are used to inspect surface of submarine components, such as welds and structural elements, for cracks and other surface defects.
Liquid penetrant Testing :- This technique is used to inspect cracks and other surface
defects on the surface of submarine components, such as castings and welds. REFERENCES

The following information is available for Edgar Corporation’s Material X.
Annual Usage 12,600 units
Working days per year 360 days
Normal lead time 20 days
The units of Material X are required evenly throughout the year.
What is the reorder points?
Assuming that occasionally, the company experiences delay in the delivery of Material X, such that the lead time reaches a maximum of 30 days, how many units of safety stocks should the company maintain and what is the reorder point? Show computation.

In a continuous review inventory system, the lead time for doorknobs is 5 weeks. The standard deviation of demand during thelead time is 85 units. The desired cycle-service level is 99 per-cent. The supplier of door knobs streamlined its operations andnow quotes a one-week lead time. How much can safety stockbe reduced without reducing the 99 percent cycle-service level?

QUESTION 2
A company needs to choose one supplier for a particular type of silicon wafer used'in the production of
semiconductors. The company has three options. Supplier A sells the silicon wafers for $2.50 per wafer,
independently of the number of wafers ordered. Supplier B sells the wafers for $2.40 each but does not
consider an order for less than 2,000 wafers. Supplier C sells the wafers for $2.30 each but does not accept
an order for less than 3,000 wafers. Assume an order setup cost of $100 and an annual requirement of 20,000
wafers. Assume a 20% annual interest rate for holding cost calculations.
a. Which supplier should be chosen to minimize the total annual cost for the wafers, and what is the
optimal order quantity?
b. If the replenishment lead time for wafers…

Select all true statements.
O To obtain a mining lease, the holder of a mining claim must absolutely acquire
surface rights.
| Mechanized stripping is used to expose the bedrock linearly to test the
geological unit of interest on its full width, perpendicular to its contact with the
surrounding units.
The apparent length of a mineralized zone of interest is always shorter than its
true width.
Upon reaching commercial production, the purchaser of a mineral exploration
property can pay a certain amount to the seller in exchange for a reduction of
the percentage of the Net Smelter Return (NSR) retained by the seller.

Lusaka Engineering Company (LEC) had actual quality costs for the year ended December
31, 2022, as given below:
Cost Element Amount ($)
Prototype verification 300,000
Process acceptance 315,000
Product liability 618,750
Recalls 243,750
Retesting 187,500
Rework 375,000
Test labour 360,000
Vendor certification 600,000
At the zero-defect state, LEC expects to spend $375,000 on Prototype verification, $75,000
on Vendor certification, and $50,000 on Process acceptance. Assume sales to be
$25,000,000.
Required:
(a) Prepare a Cost of Quality report for 2022 using the PAF Model. What does this
report tell the management of LEC?
(b) Prepare a Cost of Quality report for the Zero-Defect State using the PAF Model.
Explain why quality costs still are present for the zero-defect state.
(c) What if LEC achieves the zero-defect state reflected in the report in part (b), what
are some of the implications of this achievement?
