Module 4 Assignment – Random Number Generator Name : Brian J. Cauguiran Evans When to use Random Number Generator: When studying the effects of different studies, Random Number Generators (RNGs) are valuable in sample surveys. Not using random selection can introduce biases, as experts may expect how subjects will respond, leading to unfair comparisons to an entire population. By ensuring comparability and facilitating unbiased analysis, researchers can draw more reliable conclusions. What are the differences in sampling with and without replacement and why does that matter? The key contrast between sampling with and without replacement is based on the independence or dependence of the sampled items. Previous sample draws have no impact on the outcome of subsequent random draws when sampling with replacement. By using the same dataset multiple times for model building, each item in the sample is independent, eliminating the need for new data collection (Zach, 2022). According to Zach (2022) from Statology , dependent items are involved in sampling without replacement, as the preceding draw influences one random draw's outcome. Researchers choose this method when they want to select a random sample from a population without reusing the same items. The specific goals and resources influence the choice between sampling with or without replacement. This decision affects covariance, which is a measure of how two variables are related. The impact of the relationship between samples and population size becomes more pronounced when dealing with a larger population. In such cases, there is a minimal distinction between sampling with replacement and sampling without replacement (Parker, n.d.).
