Worksheet for lab 03 Kinematics of motion Question 1 (3 points): In the below picture, assume that you go from your house to library and then you go to the restaurant. If the whole trip takes 10 minutes, what is your average velocity? Activity 02 (3 points): 1- What is the speed of the cart? 60m/s 2- Is the speed changing while the cart is moving? Why? The speed will change as the cart speeds up and slows down. 3- How many meters will the cart travel in 10 seconds? 6 meters Library Home Restaurant 200 m 200 m
Activity 03 (6 points) Include your graph for activity 03 and answer the following questions. 1. Does this plot represent a straight line? This plot does not represent a perfectly straight line because the line of best fit does not go through the middle of each point. 2. What are the slope and the Y-int for the best fit line? What quantities do you think these two represent? The slope of the line of best fit is 3.9609 and the y-int is 0.1739. These two quantities represent the distance between the highest time and the lowest time. 3. What distance do you expect the cart to travel, if you let it move for 40seconds? 160m
Activity 04, part a.(3 points) Include your data table and graph here and answer the following question. Does the velocity vs. time resemble a line? If yes find the slope and Y-int for that line. What do you think these values represent? Yes it does. The slope is 1.0008 and the y intercept is 5.2257. These values represent the seconds that it takes increase to the next velocity value.

Activity 04, part b. (3 points) Include your data table and graph here and answer the following question. Does the velocity vs. time resemble a line? If yes find the slope and Y-int for that line. What do you think these values represent? It shows a line, but is not a consistent line of best fit. These values represent the rapid decline in velocity. Activity 05 (2 points) Write a short summary for this lab, including what you learned doing the activities. In this lab, we learned how to calculate velocity, as well as tested how when adding more Newtons to an object, how will the velocity change. After performing each activity, I learned that when you apply more Newtons or force to an object it will increase to a higher velocity to a shorter period. If you add a negative source of force, it will slow the object down.
