Comprehension is a cross-curricular skill. Explain how comprehension affects all content areas. Choose a content area other than English language arts and provide a comprehension strategy you could use to support students in content-specific reading.
Hello Professor and Classmates, Comprehension requires individuals to gain a fluent understanding of the text that has been provided for them. Within every content area of learning students must be able to understand the
information that is being presented to them in order to grasp each concept. Information is being offered to the students from the educator but without comprehension they will not be able to build on new knowledge and upcoming lessons. In relation to mathematics, word problems can be
orated in a slow pace so that can’t properly comprehend to solve the equation. The educator might have to repeat the word problem several times so that an understanding can be brought to the student. Taking the opportunity to dissect the problem into smaller entities will allow the individual to demonstrate the word problem to have a better understanding. In addition, including
manipulatives into the math segment will allow the student to have visual aids that will develop a greater level of comprehension. Karyn P. Higgs, Alecia M. Santuzzi, Cody Gibson, Ryan D.
