Personal SWOT Analysis 1 Running head: Personal SWOT Analysis Personal SWOT Analysis Jessica Crowder Capella University November 27, 2023
Personal SWOT Analysis 2 Personal Swot Analysis Positive character traits or abilities are referred to as strengths. Knowledge, qualities, abilities, and talents are all examples of strengths (Davis, 2023). Our strengths are what separates us from others and gives us an advantage in many situations. One of my biggest strengths is my self-awareness. Self-awareness is simply the ability to truly know and understand yourself your character, feelings, flaws, and motives. Throughout my life I have met, alot of people who when faced with problematic situations blame others and try to point the fingers at others for the negative things that happen or even mistakes that they make. I am a person that firmly believe my life is a product of my decisions and the best way to prevent repeating mistakes is to figure out what you could have done differently and not try to point figures at other people. This is a strength of mine because I am quick to learn from my mistakes and I also work very hard to not repeat them. This is also a competitive advantage because in the workforce it helps to be self- aware and solution driven. Those that face problems and play the blame game are wasting precious time that could have been used on finding a solution. Another strength that I have is my integrity. My entire life I have prided myself on doing the right thing, even when I am not being watched by others. This makes me a very loyal and trusted employee and friend. One major weakness I have noticed and also have been told I have is overthinking and over analyzing. A person that overthinks every situation in their lives often waste a lot of time and has a hard time focusing on things (Witmer, 2023). Overthinking consists of me dwelling on thoughts, decisions, and situations over and over again. This includes past things or things that are yet to come. This weakness can also be considered a threat especially if my overthinking is interfering with my effectiveness and ability to do my job as efficiently as others. This area of weakness can be approved by creating schedules that designates a limited amount of time to
Personal SWOT Analysis 3 ponder and think about these things and decisions and when that time is up force myself to move on to a different thought. Another weakness of mine is the fact that I struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. These conditions tie together with my overthinking and can cause disruptions in my life when not treated and cared for with both therapy and medications. Obtaining my bachelor’s degree in business next year is one of the biggest opportunities of my life that I will leverage for competitive advantage. At my employer Aldi, I am currently a purchasing assistant. Although I enjoy my position there are several positions within the company that would provide me a better opportunity for growth, development, as well as dramatic salary increases. These job opportunities require a bachelors degree to be considered for the position. Obtaining my degree will open many doors and opportunities for me in my life. As a mother of four young children obtaining my bachelor’s degree at 32 years old, the main threats to my competitive advantage are younger college students graduating with not as many responsibilities that I have. These younger adults may be more appealing to Aldi because they are young, fresh out of college, and don’t have the responsibilities that come with having children and established families. Traveling for training and business may be easier for a young adult without family constraints and that may be seen as a threat to my competitive advantage. By using your SWOT analysis as a self-awareness strategy, it allows you to examine advantages and disadvantages as well as find areas of improvements and personal growth.
