MKT 8035 WORKSHEET # 4 SWOT
TEAM # __4_______
SEC # ___11_______
Discussion among all group members should take place and answer the following questions. What are the Strengths of your Product(s) /Services moving into the Global Market? (Strengths and Weaknesses are internal to the Company)
Strengths
Expanded geographic presence
: They are available in 55 nations and have over 2200 stores all over the planet. The attractive displays in their meticulously planned stores entice customers. The Americas, the Accumulated Space, the Republic of Ireland, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific are the four districts where the association operates. By expanding into multiple regions, the company reduces its exposure to market risks and increases growth opportunities in each region. (Body Shop International, 2006). Niche Market:
The Body Shop is well-known for creating a market for skin and hair care products by nature. Through its product lines, such as Banana Shampoo and Vitamin E Moisture Cream Tree Oil range, the group has been instrumental in introducing a generation of consumers to the advantages of a
wide range of natural products. Body Shop brought the advantages of products like aloe vera, cocoa margarine, and many more to individual consideration items. The organization also altered the moral position of the business by not testing beauty care products and other consideration items on creatures.
The idea by different rivals in the years to come, the organization has held high memorability and the first mover advantage (Body Shop International, 2006).
Focus on Natural Ingredients
: The Body Shop emphasizes the utilization of natural ingredients in its products. In a market like Jordan, where natural and organic beauty products are frequently preferred, this could be a significant strength.
Commitment to Social Causes
: The Body Shop's association with friendly causes aligns with the developing customer inclination for brands that contribute positively to society. This responsibility can encourage positive perception among Jordanian purchasers.
What are the Weaknesses of your Product(s)/Services moving into the Global Market?
Weaknesses
Slow Service
: It has been identified as a characteristic that body shops prefer to reach their buyers
through physical stores rather than online stores. However, since their store operations are based on a
franchise system and proprietor involvement is low, it has been observed that their customer service
has some considerable gaps. They choose to locate their stores in crowded areas, and due to the higher
demand, customers must wait an exhaustingly long time for their turn (Shastri, 2023).
High Prices
: The founder of the body shop has assumed that consumers wouldn’t mind paying a little bit more for the natural ingredients which was a possible market approach during that era. But, over the period the economic instabilities and the progressive competitors with much more affordable prices coming into the market have caused body shop to drop their sales (Shastri, 2023).
Unable to match up
:
Purchaser inclination is something that can change quickly. In any case, Body Shop has been so sure about its items that its transformation to patterns has been sluggish. The absence of item advancement has turned them less seriously connected with item variety. This could have been caused because, they have been too bustling zeroing in on being harmless to the ecosystem, against creature savagery, and representing basic liberties and it has driven them out of their fundamental center which is the makeup business. Also, the way that customers are in certain cases confounded about whether they need to be in the corrective business or be the forerunner in green ideas. Their inability to adapt their products to shifting cultural and geographical contexts could also be to blame
(Bhasin, 2019).
What are the Opportunities of your Product(s)/Services? (Opportunities & Threats are External to the Company)
Opportunities
Expanding Online Sales
: As more consumers shift to online shopping, The Body Shop can leverage this trend to grow its e-commerce sales. This could include enhancing its website’s user experience, personalizing its online marketing, or expanding into new marketplaces (Body Shop International, PLC SWOT Analysis, 2006).
Innovative Product Development
: The beauty and cosmetics industry always evolves, with consumers looking for the latest trends and innovations. The Body Shop can attract and retain new customers by developing new products (Fatema, 2023).
Associations or Coordinated efforts
: Companies might think about ways to work together with The Body Shop on marketing campaigns, co-branding products, or other projects.
Demand for Ethical and Sustainable Products: Jordanian purchasers are progressively becoming aware of moral and sustainable items. The Body Shop's commitment to these values aligns well with this trend,
allowing it to attract a portion of socially conscious buyers.
Product Offering Customization: Understanding the necessities and preferences of Jordanian purchasers allows The Body Shop to customize items or introduce limited-edition items that cater to local preferences (Fatema, 2023).
What are the Threats to your Product(s)/Services? THREATS:
It is crucial to consider a range of risks that may affect The Body Shop's ability to succeed in the Jordanian market while performing a SWOT analysis to prepare for the store's prospective debut. The following are some possible risks to be aware of:
Threats
Intense Competition: Local and foreign businesses are fighting for market share in Jordan's beauty and cosmetics industry, which is extremely competitive. The penetration and growth of The Body Shop in the
market may be threatened by the existence of well-established competitors. Beauty & Personal Care - Jordan. (n.d.). Retrieved February 05, 2024, from https://www.statista.com/outlook/cmo/beauty-
personal-care/jordan
. Cultural variations: For a business to successfully enter and navigate the Jordanian market, a sophisticated and dynamic approach to cultural adaptation is required due to the country's changing customer attitudes, rising demand for expensive products, middle-class integration, sociocultural variety, and influence of social variables Shammout, E. (2020). Cultural orientation and materialism in Jordan: Consumer perceptions of brand luxury
. [Doctoral Thesis, Charles Sturt University]. Charles Sturt
University. https://researchoutput.csu.edu.au/en/publications/cultural-orientation-and-materialism-
in-jordan-consumer-perceptio
Economic Factors: The purchasing habits of target customers may be impacted by economic instability or variations in the Jordanian marketplace, such as shifts in purchasing power, price inflation, or currency devaluation. This could have an impact on the market for high-end cosmetics, such as those sold by The Body Shop
