2 Research Design and Data Collection Strategy in Business Decision-Making At a retail company, I had to explore study design and data collection methods to address a significant business issue. To optimize marketing and sales for a new product line targeting a specific demographic, the company needed to evaluate client satisfaction and preferences. I used a quantitative study approach and a structured survey for data collection. This choice was based on the problem and our ambitions. To extract relevant results, numerical data, and statistical analysis were needed. Hence, a quantitative research methodology was used. Due to the large consumer base and need for complete information, a quantitative approach was chosen. This strategy efficiently collected data from a wide sample size, giving us a broad view of client happiness, preferences, and improvement areas. According to Ikart (2019) , structured surveys helped ensure response consistency and comparability. The poll included carefully constructed questions about product satisfaction, purchasing behavior, and demographics. Standardized data was collected using this method, making quantification and statistical analysis easy. The necessity for empirical data to support decision-making supported the quantitative study design and organized survey. Based on the findings, the corporation planned major marketing, inventory, and product development investments. Quantitative methods provided statistical rigor and resilience for confident results. A quantitative method was efficient and scalable, given the deadline and resources. It allowed us to reach many clients quickly, assuring a complete data set that could be examined quickly. This was essential for fulfilling product launch dates. A qualitative research methodology could have revealed user motives and behaviors, but this project's magnitude and size required a more formal and data-driven approach ( Islam et al., 2022.p.8). Qualitative methods like open-ended
3 interviews and focus groups may have needed to be more time-consuming and resource- intensive. In conclusion, the quantitative research approach and organized survey data collection strategy helped answer the business question. This method gave us accurate numerical data to derive statistically significant inferences about consumer satisfaction and preferences. The conclusion was based on empirical evidence, scalability, and efficiency, which were crucial to product launch success. This experience underlined the necessity of matching research design and data gathering approach to business problem goals and constraints.
