By Day 5 Read a selection of your colleagues' postings. Respond to at least two of your colleagues' postings that contain a perspective different from yours. For the first response to one of your colleagues: Describe how the intended audience is expected to react to the issue in your colleague’s popular culture element. Then, for the second response to your other colleague: Describe ways in which the unintended audience may react to the issue in your popular culture element. conswaylla bell RE: Week Two---Gender/Sexuality Thread COLLAPSE I chose to use gender to speak about how different the times are and how women and men have changed the tiple ways of dressing and creating a new era in fashion. We have seen men's and women's clothing choices change over time. I have seen women dress more masculine and have been told that's not how a lady would dress or that it's not lady-like. In the world, males are sent as if they dress as a woman. They are less of a man and they don't depict what a man is. We have seen men in films dress up and play women roles, we also seen women dress up as men in film roles. For instance, in the film, the Wayans brothers started in the movie “ White Chicks ’ where they played two FBI agents who go deep undercover and pose as two white girls. This shows how men in the film world have changed the way movies are played. The style of clothing that was presented in the movie was a comma look in fashion back in “2004’’. Also in the movie “ Silence of the Lambs ” Jodie Foster plays the FBI in training, working on an FBI case. I am interested in this topic because men are treated better than women in society. I got this from my “modern popular culture” class, I'm learning new things in this class. It opened up my eyes and brain to get deep into my writing. As a society, we have grown to Accept one another as a whole but there is still some work we have to do when it comes to being open-minded about the LGBTQ family. Over the years, the gender rules have changed such as what a man is but if your gay or trans or a Cross-Dresser that makes u less than men. If you're a female you can't dress in short dresses, short skirts, wear boy clothes, or having colored hair, which makes you seem not lady-like. As the years go on we chance and get better step by step. Marcus Loring-Picard RE: Gender/Sexuality Thread--Marcus Loring-Picard COLLAPSE In my personal experiences if feel that popular culture has helped pushed the issues of gender and sexuality forward into a larger focus and largely feel that has helped foster understanding among a large portion of the population. Shows like Ellen and Will and Grace helped show people that homosexuals are normal people with the same everyday problems that everyone else faces. When movies were first introduced The Production Code of 1934 formalized the voluntary exclusion of all gay and lesbian characters from Hollywood films
(Russo, 1981). It wasn't until the late '60s and 70s that television began featuring homosexual themes but wouldn't introduce recurring characters. Ellen was possibly the most publicly known homosexual character after her coming out on television. While I feel that featuring homosexual characters on television has helped foster greater acceptance I can see where people could see that Ellen coming out on television or featuring more homosexual characters can be seen as normalizing the coming out process and also making it difficult to take coming out seriously. I know when I was growing up the only homosexual representation available to most people was Will and Ellen but these days you can see gay and lesbian characters everywhere. Modern Family, Black Lightning, American Horror Story, even Disney has started to feature gay characters with starring or recurring roles. The increase in visibility and normalizing gay characters is, I believe, one of the contributing factors to the long-awaited decision to allow gay marriage. I personally hope to continue to see gay characters featured so that more youth can have role models to look up to when coming to terms with their sexualities. Sources: Russo, V. (1981). Hello Marc-Eric First I enjoyed reading your post, it is well organized and well detailed containing informative content. I agree with you that through CRM the company’s orders will be coordinated to be delivered on time. Customers are most critical in every organization and through CRM, all good and services rendered to the customers are monitored to ensure they are delivered timely and perfectly without damages. Besides, Brad Pak can use CRM to design and implement the marketing initiatives ( Srivastava & Chen, 2019). Marketing is key element in every organization. Therefore, CRM is fundamental in the company to impact its progress. Reference Srivastava, R. K., & Chen, T. (2019). SD logic–informed customer engagement: integrative framework, revised fundamental propositions, and application to CRM. Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science , 47 (1), 161-185. Hello Trellis Good post! I am impressed by how you organized you work and addressed every problem in detailed. Luckily, I have heard about Wayfair a company which you choose and this makes it easy to relate to your post. I agree with you that CRM can be applied to run deals for holidays and items on clearance. And SCM to ensure that vendors have the required inventory to keep products available and ready to be shipped. Besides, Wayfair can apply SCM to forecast and stock its warehouses to ensure all products orders by the customers are delivered on time and effectively. Every company strives to ensure that it can deliver all what customers order or it can provide an alternative solution.
