Technology is part of today’s business world and video technology is developing at a very fast pace. Computers are everywhere and 3D digital technology in the real estate marketing offers many benefits. When using futuristic virtual and augmented 3D video tours, or sending a drone to capture the amazing background surroundings of a high-end listing, the real estate industry can operate in greater efficiency. Customers enjoy the convenience that they do not need to be at the same physical location to look at properties. Video tours of real estate listings are plus points for people who are looking to buy, and also it can be an impressive tool for brokers as well. According to Ericson, “The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reports that more than 90 percent of consumers start the home search online,
providing ample opportunity for realtors to show and tell” (Ericson, 2014 p.1). Using the new technologies and new forms of media to market, advertise and sell properties has presented real estate professionals with various tools to assist their business in marketing, selling, tracking and managing clients and the possibility or likelihood of some future event to remain competitive in the industry. Although, there are a number of options available to realtors through technology to help in marketing, it also comes with many potential drawbacks as well. Technology is evolving at a rapid rate and companies depend heavily on computer systems which can break down and lead to a loss in productivity. Furthermore, some software needs to be upgraded in a regular basis and it can result in an extra expense for the company. Also, some custumers may not be computer literate and prefer a physical contact and the good old flyer advertisement. References Ericson, C. (2014).
