Darlene Peralta Target Market Characteristics Worksheet
(
Entrepreneurship: A Real-World Approach,
Rhonda Abrams, page 117) Use this worksheet to identify the major characteristics of your target market.
1.
What are the demographic characteristics of your market? (For individuals, list age, gender, marital status, income, education level, etc. For businesses, list years in business, annual revenue, and industry.)
The demographic characteristics of my target market are men, children, and occasionally women of all ages and all walks of life. According to The U.S. Census Bureau (2016-2020), the median age in Scottsdale, Arizona is 48, and the income level for nearly half of all Scottsdale households is $100k. 2.
Describe the geographic area you are targeting (country, region, state or province, city, suburb, ZIP Codes, and so on).
The geographic area I am targeting is Downtown Scottsdale, Arizona, in the United States of America. The zip code is 85251. According to U.S. Bureau, The people living in ZIP code 85251 are primarily white.
This zip code is located in Maricopa County.
3.
How do your customers spend their time? For businesses, how do they relate to their employees and community? Describe their lifestyle/business style. My customers' lifestyles vary greatly depending on their preferences and needs. A customer who visits a barber like me regularly may place a high value on personal grooming and take pride in their appearance. They could be someone who desires a neat and polished image for professional or personal reasons. They may also enjoy socializing when visiting me. 4.
What are the psychographic aspects of your customers (i.e., their motivations, based on emotions, desires, lifestyle, and values)? Based on my customers lifestyles, motivations, and desires, the psychographic aspects of my customers include socializing and keeping up with trends. My older customers may come see
me for the conversation that comes with a haircut. Younger customers may visit me for a popular haircut that is currently trending.
5.
How and where do your customers make their purchases? How long do they wait between purchases?
My customers make their purchases in my barbershop. We accept credit, debit, and cash. We also have Apple Pay if a customer forgets any cash or wallet. There is no wait between purchases; as soon as I finish my services, my customers can pay. 6.
What factors are most important to your customers when deciding to buy? What kind of
trade-offs are they willing to make? What trade-offs will they absolutely resist?
When deciding to purchase my services, my customers consider the reputation, quality, cleanliness, price, location, availability, friendliness, and atmosphere of the shop. They value someone like me who listens to their needs and provides personalized recommendations and advice. References City Of Scottsdale. (2021).
