What could be an internal communication issue in the U.S. branch?
Based on the research done so far, it seems there could be multiple issues going on with the US Branch when it comes to
internal communication.
First the US branch does not have balance as far as diversity is concerned which might be causing a language or cultural
barrier in communication.
There are obviously physical boundaries, time differences between Singapore and the US branch which might be causing
the challenges and that could be the reason why US employees prefer to maintain and communicate through the roaster
or worksheet rather than meetings with their colleagues at home office in Singapore causing barriers in effective
communication.
Within US branch as well some employee could be working remotely or working different schedules which could be
causing another set of challenges.
There could be lack of clear communication structure and employees may not clarity on whom to approach for a specific
issue creating communication gaps in between.
Lack of communication is one problem with the US branch and whatever communication is happening is only one way
communication when it is expected to be a both way communication between managers, leadership & employees. Both
way communication offers an opportunity to employees to clarify the information communicated, avoids delays and
mistakes.
Consistency in terms of how often the communication happens and what message is communicated is possibly a a big
issue at the US branch.
Misalignment between leadership, middle managers, employees, their goals & organizational goals is another possible
issue with the US branch. Leadership needs to communicate the company mission, vision & goals early, consistently &
coherently to have impact on employees.
What are the top two roles of strategic internal communication for successful change initiatives?
Here are my thoughts around role of strategic internal communication:
Achieve strategic alignment across the organization
