Burns 1 Dr. Loch MGT 312 Zi Burns February 5, 2024 LIV Golf 1. Should the PGA Tour have done anything differently in the years leading up to 2022? Could they have prevented the entry of LIV Golf? Big changes such as merging with another company is a big decision that should be discussed thoroughly before implemented. Jay Monahan from a leadership standpoint could have handled the situation differently by having humility and owning up to his wrong doings. It is also important to consult your employees or rather players in this case, before making big decisions for the company, transparency is crucial. Running things in an autocratic
Burns 2 leadership style as Monahan did proved to be an ineffective way of leading and causeed conflicts as seen here thus losing the trust and loyalty of his players. 3. If you were leading the PGA tour, what strategic recommendations would you have for the combined entity moving forward? If I were leading the PGA tour I would give the players some incentive to stay after knowing they are unsatisfied with the decision I made whether that is a pay raise or bonus. I would also create an environment where people's voices are heard and everyone has a say in decisions no matter how big or small. I would strive to rebuild the trust that was broken as well as ensure there is transparency. Creating a positive and inviting company culture would be my ultimate goal.
