5-2 Journal: GROW Model and Leading Others Considering the insights from the reading , The leader as coach: how to unleash innovation, energy, and commitment and the recommendations from the GROW model, others might follow me as a leader because of my commitment to their growth and development. The evolving nature of coaching, as mentioned in the reading, emphasizes not only imparting knowledge but also unlocking individuals' potential to maximize their performance (Ibarra, 2019). By incorporating elements of the GROW model, I would strive to create an environment where team members feel supported in their personal and professional growth. My confidence and empathy, could contribute to building trust and a sense of security within the team, making them more likely to follow my leadership. To motivate others to pursue the outlined vision enthusiastically, I would adopt a leading approach that aligns with both the readings insights and the GROW model. Rather than dictating orders, I would aim to unlock the team's potential by asking questions that spark insights and encourage them to discover their own solutions (Ibarra, 2019). This leadership style involves both imparting knowledge and helping individuals discover it themselves, a skill emphasized in the GROW model. Focusing on the 2x2 matrix introduced in the reading, I would provide relevant information, advice, and expertise while also pulling out motivational energy by unlocking the team's insights and solutions (Ibarra, 2019). This approach ensures that team members are not only informed about the vision but also motivated intrinsically to contribute enthusiastically. By involving them in the decision-making process and recognizing the value of their contributions, I can foster a sense of ownership and commitment within the team. In seeking feedback on my leadership, I reached out to some friends and family, and they focused mainly on my empathy and ability to connect with others and get along well with anyone. I would definitely agree with this feedback, I am a very empathetic and outgoing
person, everywhere I go I like to talk to new people. I am someone that would do anything for the people I love, and I would be there as a friend for my team even if I am their leader, I would also be their friend.
