The components of Jetblue's competitive advantage are cost efficiency, customer service, pricing model, operational innovations, and brand and reputation. Merits of these components include a solid reputation and brand for customer support, enhanced operational effectiveness via economical tactics, a differentiated price structure to accommodate different consumer tastes, a low complaint rate and strong client loyalty, and new developments in day-to-day operations. Demerits include challenges with capacity management during recessions due to a larger airbus, high susceptibility to outside influences, including changes in the economy, weather, and fuel prices, and pressure from rival low-cost and traditional airlines to compete. Key forces in the environment that affect Jetblue’s strategy would be economic conditions, fuel prices, competition from other airlines, technological advancements, and changes in regulations pertaining to safety standards and security measures may have an effect on operations. The internal assets and resources that Jetblue has that gives them a competitive advantage would be that they use a single aircraft model that lowers training and maintenance expenses, they are a powerful brand with a solid reputation for customer care, new methods of operation, such as the “paperless cockpit”, minimal customer complaint ratings and devoted customers, and adjustable prices using a graded fare system. The stability of JetBlue's competitive advantage may be threatened by outside variables like fluctuating fuel prices and fierce rivalry. The airline has some sustainability due to its excellent customer service and well-known brand, but in order to be competitive, it must always come up with new ideas and adjustments for the shifting market. The durability of JetBlue's competitive edge will be largely dependent on its capacity to deliver unique services and effectively manage expenses.
