As an educational leader our goal in our position is to promote the learning and well-being of our students. They are literally our entire goal as a collaborative team. Being a servant leader and supporting teachers, we are able to come together as a professional collective to do everything we can for out students. As a leader we have to support our base which is our teachers and staff so that we all together can work for our students and promote their self- efficacy. Being a promoter of growth, development and self-efficacy is part of the standards set as an administrator as a function of the position. The leaderships role in a school is to lead by example in being ethical, kind, consistent, socially and emotionally aware. Teachers have lives outside of school, just like our students and just like leadership does. It is vital that administration leads in a way that promotes the well-being of the whole person and not just the cog in the work machine. Self efficacy can be promoted for staff through clear communication, transparency and collaboration. Allowing staff to plan professional development days, collaborate planning time and adequate time to process new information and share with their administrator team. By doing so, teachers can also lead by example and promote these skills with their students. For both students and staff it is key to find ways to tailor intentional time for skill development with differentiation to support each person as a learner. As a leader it is also vital to celebrate the wins of the students and the staff. Being able to struggle together and then succeed together is important for encouraging life long learning.
