Topic 5 DQ 2 GO TO DISCUSSION Start Date Feb 8, 2024, 12:00 AM Due Date Feb 12, 2024, 11:59 PM Points 5 Status Upcoming Assessment Description Contextualize the roles of a school’s educational leaders and provide examples of how such leaders can protect and promote the self-efficacy of students and staff within the school through his or her leadership behaviors. Educational leaders are instrumental in establishing environments that foster self confidence and effectiveness to both students and teachers. To inspire confidence, leaders can foster positive cultures, provide resources, and acknowledge individual strengths. Leaders can promote self-efficacy among teachers by promoting professional development opportunities, ensuring teachers have a collaborative work environment, and recognizing their achievements. For example, leaders can provide ongoing training for teachers to ensure they’re able to complete given task effectively. Staff members and students should be actively contributing to formulating the school’s mission, vision, and its core values to cultivate a sense of unity, teamwork, and shared objective within the school. “Effective educational leaders develop, advocate, and enact a shared mission, vision, and core values of high-quality education and academic success and well- being of each student.” PSLE (2015). Honest and straight forward communication, equitable decision making, dedication to fairness, can help leaders establish trust, which empowers both
students and teachers to believe in their capabilities and actively participating in enhancing the school community. For example, school leaders can provide personalized learning opportunities and support, catering to different learning styles and needs of students. Another way leaders can promote and protect self-efficacy for students is by offering students the opportunity to assume leadership positions, cultivating a sense of accountability and boosting their confidence in their abilities. Leaders play a pivotal role in creating a supportive environment for students and staff self-efficacy. Reference National Policy Board for Educational Administration. (2015).
