Hello student 1,
Excellent discussion post on this week’s discussion prompt! I agree with your definition of organizational
socialization that it involves the processes through which a new employee gains k
nowledge, abilities,
attitudes,
and behaviors important for integrating into an organization or occupation. I also
agree that first line supervisory training is important in an organization as it impacts the
organizational operation efficiency and employee development. The training program usually
help supervisors in a company to learn more about how to manage and oversee their teams to
increase efficiency and production (Patterson, 2019). I enjoyed reading through you example of
a time you were mentored by a colleague. Mentors usually provides their mentee with first hand
experienced of the job description or position they are to occupy. It is important for the mentor
and mentee to develop a good and working relationship as this will promote the training
success. I agree that promoting development in the criminal justice system will require the
implementation of various strategies that promote openness and transparency in the
organization. Offering continuous training and providing opportunities for growth to the
employees is also another form of promoting development in the criminal justice organization.
Without training, organization will lack the talent that is needed to work in the company as
managers in the future.

Hello student 2,
Excellent post! I like your definition of organizational socialization as the learning and
adjustment process in an organization that allows a new employee to get used to the roles they
are required to carry out in a company. In any organization, first line supervisory training is very
important as it helps people in supervisory positions to learn how to properly execute their roles.
I enjoyed reading your description of a time you were involved in mentorship training for
different employees in your company. Mentoring others especially those below you is very
important in any organization as it helps promote and develop the talents that will take over
such responsibilities in the future. I agree that mentoring employees can have its advantages
and challenges. Some of the advantages of mentoring involves helping employees gai their
confidence and ability to do their work independently. Some of the challenges of mentoring
involves lack of seriousness on the part of the employees. In a criminal justice organization,
mentoring employee is very important as it provides them with the opportunities to develop and
grow their careers. I agree that as Christians, it is important for us to learn to mentor and uplift
others so as to help them do their best in their work.
