Wk 2: Organizational Development and Theories of Motivation Wk 2 Disc: What Motivates You? With the things I’ve experienced in my life. I find pleasure in learning and therefore have never seen it as a pain. Now, when being tested on my knowledge of things I tend to give less then what I could give. Why? Well, I’ve lived life trying to please others. Now, I just do things that please myself. That usually means not always giving my all to things that I don’t want to do. School is something else, a beast in its own. It makes you think and rethink what you know and where you learned that information from. My motivation is love. It sounds crazy but it is. Knowledge is love for oneself and others. That’s why people seek it. To spread knowledge to others. Protection is love again for self. That usually extends to those around you. Think of protection as standing guard if something were to happen, not if something does happen. My motivation style at work is Theory Y . I love work and don’t look at it as a job. Therefore I show up and I give them what they pay for. Each pay raise unlocks another level of professionalism. The Motivation-Hygiene theory is true when it comes to employees. So, I agree with this method of thinking. I also deeply resonate with self concordance as well. Robbins, S.P. & Judge, T.A. (2018) . Reference: Robbins, S.P., & JUdge, T.A. (2018).
