SELF-AWARENESS 2 Self-Awareness 1. How does self-awareness foster productivity at the workplace? 2. What is the correlation between self-awareness and enhanced team building at the workplace? How does self-awareness foster productivity in the workplace and its correlation to enhanced team building? Self-awareness is intuited to be the foundation block of productivity. It is overtly evident that a lack of self-awareness has an adverse ripple effect on productivity. Most workplaces have multiple individuals with diverse cultures and backgrounds which necessitates one to unconditionally possess and impose some extra effort on positivity around self. Workplaces have multiple cadres and ranks and all of them play an integral role in the productivity of any enterprise or organization. Therefore, if all players in these multiple ranking chains were to be fully aware of themselves, they will automatically identify what drives and propels their thrust toward success and achieving their goals (Aránega, 2020). A leader who is self-aware is overtly capacitated to manage their weaknesses and strengths, connect and related better with colleagues at the workplace, and will to a great extent reduce clients’ distraction since operations tend to run smoothly with no glitches or interruptions. Different individuals have multiple and variant opinions on their efficiencies. Self- awareness within an individual ascertains and facilitates them to alter the trajectory of their thought processes which would consequently enable them to make the right and appropriate changes if need be. Such individuals are overtly cognizant of their actions and behaviors at the moment and are aware of their present actions that tend to jeopardize their goals. As a result of
SELF-AWARENESS 3 this enhanced self-awareness, it is intuited to play an integral role in enhancing productivity at a personal level whose ripple effect trickles down to productivity at the workplace. There portends a profound correlation between the extent and magnitude to which we achieve our goals and how we tend to appraise our actions and behaviors as well those of individuals around us. Ultimately, it will enable one to intrinsically analyze one’s performance since it is obvious that failure to do so will hamper growth. Watching over one’s personal skills is touted to enhance productivity pursuits at an individual level and at the workforce level. One can deploy different techniques to develop self-awareness. Some of the techniques include being honest, getting curious, inquiring for informal feedback, keeping not on self, having a journal that enables one to document their activities as well as plan them accordingly, looking at one objectively, and listening to one’s inner voice (Dierdorff, 2019). These techniques enable one to track their habits and have an intimate moment with themselves which deters outside forces and noises that may corrupt and distort one’s identity. Most leaders at workplaces pursue to seize the powerful self-awareness technique. Often, this term is misinterpreted since most individuals tend to think that it is only relevant to them and meagerly affects or impacts individuals around them. Conversely, however, this is not usually the case since more often than not, an individual who is self-aware imposes a wide array of benefits to peers, more so in workplaces. Thus, it is an attribute that ought to be taught and imposed on individuals from the get-go. Past research intuit that individuals who are taught and possess self- awareness skills have more capabilities and willpower to reflect on their leadership skills which foster a reinvigorated sense of teamwork (Dierdorff, 2019). Self-awareness enables individuals to extensively review their diverse skill sets which emboldens their contribution to the company and its culture of building and fostering teamwork.

SELF-AWARENESS 4 Many benefits are accrued from self-awareness in workplaces. One of them is stress identification and management. When one is more aware of things that trigger their stress, they are better placed to manage and take actions accordingly so that it does not hamper with their well-being (Aránega, 2020). Self-awareness is a vital technique that enables us to better understand our emotions and their impact on individuals around us. Its essentiality extends to levels where one can take in criticism with much ease, whereby negative feedback is not perceived as demeaning but as a tool of self-reflection to help one better understand themselves to embolden their interaction with workmates with much ease. Self-awareness imposes a wide array of personal benefits which has a ripple effect on the environment we operate in and the energies individuals disseminate to people around them. One of the most outstanding benefits is that it fosters one’s confidence in their personal strengths whose recognizability tends to be more conspicuous. Additionally, it enables individuals to practice enhanced positive self-talk within themselves. As a result, their self-esteem levels spiral to an upward trajectory which is essential for team building. One would feel more comfortable and confident to share their different and diverse perspectives with coworkers who are self- aware. In turn, the interchange of perspectives and ideologies will enable workmates to better understand how coworkers work which emboldens a more enhanced collaborative approach at work (Aránega, 2020). Conclusion Given the wide array of advantages that are an aftermath of self-awareness, it would be worthwhile that organizations and companies build a work environment and company culture that pursues and encourages self-awareness other than overlooking its essentiality. Engaging in education programs that teach workers how best to maneuver self-awareness would play an
SELF-AWARENESS 5 integral role in fostering its practice within the workplace whose results would be evident in increased productivity and the surpassing of the company’s targets.
