Discussion Board 4 Reply Discussion Thread: Internal Environment, Power / Weakness, and Decision Models Discussion Thread Reply James, thank you for discussing internal factors of environments this was a very good discussion. This process of developing strategy is critical. According to Gamble et al (2021), for organizations to be successful they must learn to innovate and not stick to the status quo. Management plays a big part in this and pushing strategy forward. Summary of what you mentioned: You mentioned that internal factors were also tied to external factors which is very much true. I agree that the reputation and perspective of of how a business is perceived from the outside will impact the internal environment. You also brought up the use of the SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis is an important tool in decision-making as it allows individuals or organizations to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. According to Linton (2021), "SWOT analysis provides a framework for identifying internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats, that can impact an organization's success" (p, 2). According to Gamble (2021) evaluating internal and external environments influences strategies. Management in leadership is needed in this. Critique I do believe that internal factors are just as important as external factors in business. For organizations to thrive they have to stay innovative. I agree with your approach about looking at both external and internal because they both correlate with each other. The internal environment can influence an organization's decision-making by providing insights into its strengths and weaknesses. For example, if an organization has a strong internal culture that values innovation.
According to Krogerus (2019), the internal environment can have a significant impact on an organization's decision-making by providing insights into its strengths and weaknesses. What I do not agree with is when upper management makes disastrous decisions based on financial viability. Sometimes this leads to compromising the mission and vision of the organization. Conclusion It is important for organizations to adapt to the complexity of competition. They must analyze their internal environment and who is running the ship. Management and leaders have the power to shift thinking and stay true to the brand and promises of an organization.
