Running head: LEADERSHIP SELF ASSESSMENT 1 Leadership Self-Assessment Name Institutional Affiliation
LEADERSHIP SELF ASSESSMENT 2 Leadership Self-Assessment Being a good leader is characterized by the possession of specific skills and personality traits. From the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) online assessment, I identified several aspects about my leadership abilities and weaknesses. I discovered that I am an introvert, likes sensing, has high thinking personality, and supports proper judgement (ISTJ) ( MBTI, 2019). My possession of a positive attitude is essential in creating a happy working environment for all the workers. I also noticed that most of the times, I got angry when things were not going my way. A good leader should be able to control his or her feelings for the betterment of the organization and keep on trying without ceasing (Krasnoff, 2015). The result also showed that I had little trust in my employees. As a good leader, it is essential to develop trust between each other to enhance accountability and honesty in work. I also gave feedback by listening first to other people’s views hence promoting collective decision on personal matters. I was surprised by the fact that I had little knowledge of the essential role of the leader in creating a clear vision of the organization and continuously communicating it to the employees. The essence of doing this is to increase the understanding of the employees of the reason why they are in the company and what they are required to achieve in the long run. I also noticed that I always took my time in evaluating the strategies that are to be employed in the organization to meet the projected goals. Evaluation is essential in determining the costs, risks, and constraints that might be faced in the process of implementing a strategy (Hewison and Holden, 2016). Finally, I found out that I had the ability to get the employees to follow my orders, which may be due to the personal relationship, respect and constant interaction.
