Internal factors
Gender-
Gender is an important area of my identity that impacts what I believe in and how I perform my duties. Society is male-dominated, and it extends to my workplace. It makes me perceive that I need to perform well and prove what men can do; even women can do better. Race
Race is another internal condition affecting my performance and perception at work. I tend to realize that my race affects other individuals' perceptions of my identity more than my own. My race is dominant in this nation, and I have enjoyed certain privileges other races could not have experienced.
Physical/ mental ability
As a young kid, I was very talkative, and every time I was with my fellow kids, I could take control, organizing them to play games. These traits have never changed as, throughout my adulthood, I have been trying to be the one leading my team.
External factors
Family status
3
I am a married woman with a loving husband and a daughter. Being in marriage has given me focus on my duties as a responsible wife and a loving mother to my daughter. Marriage
has changed my perception at work as I have worked extra hard to support my family. Religion I am a Christian who believes in the living God. My mother is a devoted Christian, and I used to accompany her to church services since I was a kid. Christianity has provided me with a foundation of being responsible with every action and decision I make at work while respecting life and treating everyone with compassion and dignity. Interests
My interests have been promoting peace and keeping my family and community safe. When I was a young kid, I always protected my friends from any danger that came our way. I was always there to ensure that nobody got hurt during a fight, but these sometimes led me to trouble.
Organizational factors
Union Affiliation
I joined the first union when I was 19 years. I was an active member of my local association, acting as an agent. As an officer, I firmly understand that collective bargaining is easier to work with a union concerning workplace challenges than with individual officers. The association helps to remind us of the values, role, and history of police while protecting them.

My work location is in the hood, an area with high crime rates. My whole life, I have grown up in the hood seeing my understanding of the threat and risks police officers experience when working there. The location is hazardous as it demands knowledge and understanding. The area has given me a sense that the job is risky and there is a need to be friendly with locals and have public control rather than only providing service. Function
My function is to keep law and order in the community. This is not new to me, as I was a class prefect during high school, and I always had difficulty controlling my fellow students. I enforce our nation's laws through apprehension, detention of suspected criminals, and performance of investigation. I protect property and life by enforcing regulations in the assigned patrol sections. Era factors
World event
World events of police brutality have influenced much in my line of duty. I always want to show people that police are just like any other person and deserve attention, and some mistakes should not criminalize the entire system. Cultural events
In my childhood, I watched movies and enjoyed it when bad people were destroyed in the
film. I have developed a system of behavior and understanding where I can be flexible and change to the tensions and pressures around me.

Historical events
On my tenth birthday, my uncle was attacked by armed robbers on his way home from work, and they shot him, but he survived gunshot injuries. The robbers got away unpunished. This memory gives me a perspective of ensuring that I have to protect people from such events by enforcing the law in my line of duty.
