2 Criminal Justice My chosen Scenario is criminal justice. In this instance, the supervisor and employee are meeting to discuss the employee's approaching annual review. The manager starts the conversation by going through the employee's goals for the previous year and what they did to achieve them. The manager then discusses the employee's strengths and opportunities for improvement. Finally, they settled on their goals for the next year. Employee’s Major Areas of Strength and Weakness. Among the employee's key areas of strength are their ability to be on time for work and their ability to secure a crime scene. The manager praised the employee for appearing on time to work this week and for the most of the year, emphasizing that punctuality demonstrates respect for both the management and the other workers in the company. The management also said that the employee is performing an excellent job of securing a crime scene, which allows everyone else to complete their tasks without interruption. Two of the employee's most important areas of weakness are their ability to correctly document evidence and record DNA evidence. The management reminded the employee that in order to prevent future difficulties, they must ensure that evidence is recorded in line with the necessary processes. According to the boss, there have also been concerns with the employee's ability to record DNA evidence, which is a very scientific technique. The management underlined the significance of this ability. Employee to Improve Upon Areas of Weakness and Capitalize Upon their Strengths. Every effective professional must maintain a high degree of professional growth and development. As a criminal justice employee, there are several opportunities to enhance one's
3 professional abilities and grow as a competent human. To reach this aim, one must first understand one's own talents as well as one's areas of weakness, and then establish a plan for developing in one's areas of weakness while capitalizing on one's areas of ability. The employee in issue has a mix of positive and negative characteristics. Two of their numerous skills include their ability to securely secure a crime scene and their dependability in reporting to work on time. One of their weaknesses is their failure to adequately document evidence and to correctly record DNA evidence. The employee must design an improvement plan in order to enhance the areas where they fall short and maximize their strengths. One goal that the employee may set for themselves is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the procedures involved in evidence recording and to verify that these processes are carried out correctly at all times. This may be performed by attending any of the available training courses or seminars, or by self-educating on the procedures via reading. Another goal that the worker may set for themselves is to have a better grasp of DNA evidence and the procedures involved in obtaining it. This may be performed by attending any of the many training sessions or seminars, as well as studying the processes in one's leisure time. The worker may also contact their managers and ask for help in developing this skill, much as they did while enhancing their ability to maintain order at a crime scene. In addition to these goals, the worker should make it a point to maintain developing their present skills. This may be done by maintaining a regular attendance record at work and a systematic approach to crime site security. Furthermore, the worker should continue to seek for ways to improve their performance in one or both of these areas.

4 The employee has the ability to continue their growth and development as a criminal justice professional by setting goals for oneself and ensuring that they are realized. Employees may get more familiar with the procedures and processes they need to succeed if they seek assistance from their superiors and attend any training sessions or seminars that are given (Siegle et al., 2021). If the employee puts in the proper amount of work, is devoted to their job, and makes a commitment to further improve, they have the potential to continue to be successful and valuable to the criminal justice system. Whether there Might be Another Job Within Their Chosen Field that Is a Better Fit for This Employee. There is a chance that this worker might be better effective in a different field of criminal justice. For example, the worker may be better suited to a job in forensics, which places a greater focus on evidence processing and analysis than their present role does. The worker could be better suited for a job in investigations, which would include more questioning of suspects and witnesses as well as gathering evidence. Instead, the person would be better suited for a position in human resources. Finally, the employee is responsible for considering which employment in the field of criminal justice would be most fit for them, as well as their own personal strengths and limits. If they take this step, they will be able to ensure that they are working in a position that makes the most use of their skills and abilities, as well as continuing their professional growth and development.
