Clear and Transparent Communication among the parties involved is crucial to avoid misunderstandings that can disrupt and hamper the negotiation process. 2. Patience and Persistence are very crucial as crisis negotiations can be complex and time- consuming. Patience and persistence are vital qualities. Parties must be prepared for setbacks, delays, and the need for continuous dialogue to reach a satisfactory outcome. 5. Maintaining Lines of Communication: Consistent communication channels should be established and maintained throughout the negotiation process. Regular updates, even in cases of minimal progress, can help prevent misunderstandings and show commitment to the process.
6. Avoiding Escalation: Negotiations should be conducted with the goal of de-escalation in mind. Actions or statements that could inflame tensions or lead to violent responses should be avoided. It is important to note that each situation is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to negotiations involving imprisoned individuals.
