1 Individual Action Project Sameer Shaik St. Francis College Organization and Strategy 14 th December 2023
2 Individual Project Organizational Experience Overview In the capacity of a Sales and Marketing Intern at Google International LLC, my role is intricately tied to actively aiding and bolstering the efforts of the sales and marketing teams. A fundamental aspect of my responsibilities involves actively contributing to the formulation, refinement, and execution of strategies devised to promote Google's extensive array of products and services. This internship represents an invaluable opportunity for me to not only gain hands-on experience but also to delve into the nuanced intricacies of the dynamic realm of tech sales and marketing. Engaging in the day-to-day operations alongside seasoned professionals provides me with a unique vantage point to understand the industry dynamics, observe the application of theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios, and actively contribute to the growth and success of Amazon ( Ahmed, 2018). This new experience unfolds as a platform for continuous learning, skill development, and an opportunity to make tangible contributions to Google's overarching objectives in the competitive landscape of tech sales and marketing. Organizational Behavior Topics Explored Motivation (Individual - Micro-Level): The primary objective of delving into motivation at the individual level was to unravel the distinctive motivational factors inherent in the tech industry and, more specifically, within the unique work environment of Google. This exploration took on added significance given the context of a sales and marketing role. Understanding what drives and inspires individuals in this field is fundamental to enhancing their performance, job satisfaction, and overall contribution to the organization ( Paais & Pattiruhu, 2020). By honing in on the micro-level intricacies of motivation, I sought to gain insights that are directly applicable to my role as a Sales and Marketing Intern at Google.
3 Organizational Culture (Organization - Macro-Level): Simultaneously, the exploration of organizational culture at the macro-level focused on deciphering the shared values, beliefs, and practices that collectively shape the behavior of individuals within Google. The distinctive and innovative organizational culture of Google became a focal point, characterized by key elements such as openness, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous innovation ( Gochhayat et al., 2017). This macro-level understanding contributes not only to comprehending the broader dynamics that define Google as an organization but also provides a lens through which to view the unique environment in which individual motivations unfold. The emphasis on organizational culture underscores its crucial role in attracting and retaining top talent, a factor of particular importance within the competitive landscape of the tech industry. Strengths of Google International LLC Google International LLC stands as a global technology powerhouse, fortified by a myriad of strengths that underpin its influential position in the industry. This brand strength not only enhances customer trust and loyalty but also establishes Google as a leader in the tech realm. The extensive global presence of Google is another notable strength, with operations spanning over thirty-seven countries. 4 that Google remains at the forefront of technological evolution but also allows it to introduce groundbreaking solutions that shape the industry. Ethical Climate Google International LLC prides itself on fostering a positive ethical climate that resonates with its core values, emphasizing innovation, customer-centricity, and sustainability. The commitment to continuous innovation is particularly evident in the company's ethos of experimentation and autonomy. Google's ethical climate is marked by a culture of openness, providing employees with the freedom to voice their ideas and take risks ( Gochhayat et al., 2017). This commitment to openness not only cultivates an environment of trust and collaboration but also aligns with the company's broader dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. Despite Google's excellence in maintaining a positive ethical climate, there are areas where improvement could enhance the overall organizational dynamics. A targeted effort to enhance motivation among sales and marketing interns is crucial, requiring a nuanced understanding of individual factors that drive performance. Recognizing and addressing the unique motivational aspects within the tech industry and the specific work environment at Google can contribute to increased job satisfaction and performance among interns in these roles. Moreover, continuous adaptation to 21st-century challenges is essential for Google to sustain its competitive edge. The rapid pace of technological changes demands a proactive approach to stay ahead in the dynamic tech landscape. By continuously adapting strategies, processes, and technologies, Google can effectively navigate challenges posed by globalization, changing definitions of work, and evolving gender roles. Recommendations for Improvement
5 Enhancing individual motivation within Google International LLC involves implementing a multifaceted approach. Firstly, conducting regular assessments to understand individual motivational factors is essential. This can be achieved through surveys, one-on-one discussions, or performance reviews to gain insights into what drives each employee, particularly those in sales and marketing roles ( Paais & Pattiruhu, 2020). Secondly, the implementation of personalized recognition and reward programs can significantly boost motivation. Recognizing and rewarding individual achievements, whether big or small, fosters a sense of accomplishment and reinforces a positive work environment. Lastly, providing avenues for skill development and career growth is crucial. Offering opportunities for professional development and advancement not only enhances motivation but also contributes to the overall growth and expertise of the workforce. Adapting to 21st-century challenges at Google involves proactive measures to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. Firstly, establishing dedicated teams to monitor and adapt to technological advancements is imperative. These teams can focus on emerging technologies, assess their relevance to Google's operations, and devise strategies for seamless integration. Secondly, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation is essential. Encouraging employees to engage in ongoing education and explore innovative solutions ensures that the organization remains at the forefront of industry trends. Lastly, strengthening global collaboration is crucial to addressing challenges posed by globalization. Facilitating effective communication and collaboration among diverse teams across different regions enables Google to harness collective intelligence and tackle challenges on a global scale. Conclusion In conclusion, my experience at Google International LLC has been enlightening, allowing me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. The organization's strengths, positive ethical climate, and areas for improvement present opportunities for
