2 Discussion Question 1 As a leader, the leadership tactic that I am drawn to is transformational leadership. When it comes to transformational leadership, several elements are considered highly effective. This tactic emphasizes motivating and inspiring others to achieve their maximum potential. Leaders using this model often promote innovation, set a compelling vision, and foster personal development among their peers ( Asbari, 2020). There is a slight interconnection between transformational leadership and personal, moral, ethical, or religious beliefs. Some of my personal beliefs might directly align with this leadership tactic or influence the principles and values it prioritizes. As a result, this alignment improves the integrity and authenticity of a leader. It also provides a robust basis for making decisions. However, personal beliefs can impact leadership effectiveness, particularly when they are exclusive, rigid, or impose biases when making decisions. According to Budur (2020), leaders need to reflect on their individual beliefs and deliberate on how they can affect their leadership style and decision-making. Leaders prioritizing individual beliefs over teams’ diversity and well- being might create an unfavorable environment. For example, religious beliefs can hinder team cohesion and diminish inclusion and diversity efforts if they favor or discriminate against some people based on their faith. Additionally, leaders may experience challenges maneuvering difficult situations and finding suitable solutions when personal ethical beliefs conflict with societal expectations or organizational values. Also, leaders who follow strict personal moral codes without deliberating on the different cultural norms and perspectives of other team members might have difficulties in making inclusive and fair decisions. Therefore, leaders need to strike a balance between their broader responsibilities and personal beliefs. While personal
3 beliefs enhance authenticity and shape a leader’s approach, they should be done in a way that fosters fairness, inclusivity, and respect for diversity.
