To begin with, I want to thank Dr. Duncan for an outstanding class and all of the support you've provided us! One previous situation where I was responsible for managing change occurred in my professional life. I was chosen to be part of a project team responsible for implementing a new software system across the organization. The change involved transitioning from the previously used legacy software to a more advanced and integrated approach that suits the emerging trends of the company. Reflecting on how I performed in change management, there are several things I could have done based on what I have learned from this course to enhance the change management process. One of the main aspects I would have changed is communication. According to McCarthy and Eastman (2021), change management requires effective communication to ensure the message is clear. Communication was crucial to the change, but the team could have been more strategic. Tailoring our messages to different audience segments and providing clearer, concise information about the new system’s benefits could have helped make the involved why the change is necessary and how it benefits them. Another critical element of the change management process is training and development. When engaging with the rest of the team, I needed to gain more knowledge about change management. Reflecting on my actions, training, and development would have helped equip me with the necessary information to foster a smooth change management approach. Training and development are meant to offer people new skills to help them understand change and its vital elements so they can manage it accordingly (Cameron & Green, 2019). With everyone receiving some training and development, we would all have instituted the change more efficiently than we did previously. The change management skills most relevant to my personal and professional life include communication and stakeholder engagement. Stakeholder engagement is fundamental while managing change because it results in essential feedback (Lauer, 2020). Feedback helps identify the areas of change that require critical attention to satisfy expected results. References Cameron, E., & Green, M. (2019).
