Week 1 – Discussion Forum 2
The Strategic Management of Diversity
In will be using my company ( Toyota Financial ) to answer these questions. At Toyota
Financial, diversity and inclusion is especially important to the well-being of the entire
company. Toyota has welcomed 10 Business Partner Groups for employees to join to
inclusion all different types of religion and culture backgrounds. Diversity, equity and
inclusion should be a way of life in our organizations. We know that for many
companies, such an approach is long overdue. We have to be humble enough as
leaders and colleagues to understand that for all the mission statements we've written,
the equal-employment posters we've tacked onto bulletin boards, the nondiscrimination
statements we've included in our job postings, abundant work remains to be done.

1.
Articulate how diversity relates to the mission and the strategic objectives
of the organization.
Diversity and inclusion support a diverse workplace that incorporates a variety of
perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, improving decision-making.
Becoming a more inclusive and diverse organization is not just the right thing to
do — it’s essential to innovation and business success.
2.
Determine specific types of diversity initiatives that will be undertaken.
Ensure that all communication within the organization is inclusive and respectful.
Implement hiring practices that eliminate bias and promote diversity.
3. Make a decision as to whether special efforts should be extended to attract a
diverse workforce.
Diversity in the workforce is widely recognized as a key factor in business
success. A diverse workforce can bring a variety of perspectives and experiences,
which can lead to innovative ideas and strategies. It can also help companies better
understand and serve their diverse customer base.
Attracting a diverse workforce often requires special efforts. These can include
targeted recruitment campaigns, partnerships with organizations that serve
underrepresented groups, and training programs to reduce unconscious bias in
hiring.
