You will need access to: your learning resources and other information for reference a suitable place to complete activities that replicates a business environment including a meeting space and computer and internet access Project Portfolio template Simulation Pack (if you need a case study) challenges and situations that affect the work schedule (if using your own business). Ensure that you: review the advice to students regarding responding to written tasks in the Business Works Student User Guide comply with the due date for assessment which your assessor will provide adhere with your RTO’s submission guidelines answer all questions completely and correctly submit work which is original and, where necessary, properly referenced submit a completed cover sheet with your work avoid sharing your answers with other students. i Assessment information Information about how you should complete this assessment can be found in Appendix A of the Business Works Student User Guide . This project requires you to prepare a personal work schedule and communicate this to the relevant personnel. As part of the assessment you, you will monitor your personal performance against workgroup objectives and obtain feedback from relevant stakeholders. Vocational education and training is all about gaining and developing practical skills that are industry relevant and that can help you to succeed in your chosen career. For this reason, we are giving you the choice to base this project on a real workplace or you can use the case study provided in the Simulation Pack . This will mean that you are applying your knowledge and skills in a relevant, practical and meaningful way to your own situation! It is important that you are able to access enough information for your chosen workplace in order to be able to do your assessment. As a minimum this should include: a team or workgroup consisting of yourself and at least two other members organisational and workgroup objectives policies and procedures related to your role (these must be in written form) workplace challenges and situations (unexpected tasks, extra workload, and so on) to demonstrate that you can assess variations in your work performance and communicate this to the relevant personnel. Identify task requirements First identify the task requirements for your workgroup and your own accountabilities in line with these task requirements. This includes: describing your own role/position in the team and at least three of your main duties identifying who you are responsible for highlighting relevant information in the policies and procedures related to your role listing tasks according to organisational requirements that must be completed over the next week (including timing requirements). outlining your own accountabilities in line with the task requirements. i Your role should hold some responsibility for the work of others and have some autonomy as you do your job. Next, identify barriers that may affect your personal performance and assess these (for example prioritising a task over another, asking for support, reviewing a policy or procedure etc.). Also identify any resources required for completing tasks (this may be financial, staff or other). 4. Create your work schedule i You must develop a personal work schedule for the next week. In order to do this, you must schedule your own work and accountabilities making use of technology (such as Google calendar, an Excel spreadsheet or software, such as Trello). Your work schedule must show timings of each of your own tasks, meetings and break times. Your work schedule must also reflect that you have prioritised work of higher priority. For example, If you are leading a workgroup, you may communicate with a team member whose work schedule is affected by the achievement of your work tasks. This may be a video of face-to-face discussion, a video of a meeting, a draft email, recording of telephone discussion etc. If you are basing the assessment on the case study provided, you must draft an email to the adminstrative assistant to share your shedule with them. You may assume your schedule is attached to the email. 6. Monitor your own performance i Assume one week has passed. List all your tasks and compare the expected and actual work performance according to task requirements (this may include tasks that you did not manage to complete within regular working hours or where you have not been able to work according to organisational policies and procedures). i You may use the Task Monitoring Template provided in the Project Portfolio or any other template required by your workplace. If you are basing this assessment on your own organisation, you must have had at least two workplace challenges and situations (unexpected tasks, extra workload, and so on). If you did not experience any, ask your assessor to provide you with simulated challenging situations. If you are basing this assessment on the case study, you may assume the following: You have been working according to your Work Schedule at OzOffice Clean for one week. You have been feeling stressed and overwhelmed due to Operations Manager being away and the extra workload that have been placed on you as a result. You have made a serious mistake on a client contract, and it took a whole day to rectify as you had to get external legal advice. You did manage to resolve all complaints within a week of receiving them. The administrative assistant could not create the report on outstanding invoices as she had problems using the software and accessing the data, they need further training from you. As a result, you only presented part of the report to the stakeholders at the weekly meeting. The customer care assistant conducted a site visit and you finalised the quotation in time. To do this, write a short report of ½ -1 to summarise your work progress by keeping the workgroup objectives in mind (reflect on organisational and workgroup objectives to say whether or not they have been achieved). i Follow your organisational requirements for reports. If you are using the case study (or your own business does not have specific requirements), assume that the organisation requires reports to be written using MS Word using Arial font size 10 (use the template in the Project Portfolio) . Identify one internal and one external stakeholder who may provide you with feedback. Draft an email (assuming that your report is attached) to share your report with them and seek feedback on your own work performance.
