Julia interview Ridwan, can you name and describe the key elements of your organization's strategy? Julia Yes sure. I believe it is employee satisfaction, customer oriented, delegation of work. Focused target market and innovation. Bridge as a company focuses highly on their employees. They try to make sure that their employees feel comfortable in their workspace. They understand not all employees have the same capability of work. They do try to provide a tailored set of tasks for the employees they have. They're highly customer oriented. They refer customers as their main stakeholders. They're constantly doing primary market research to find out customer wants and needs. They also understand that the market is constantly changing which is why they need their employees very agile. They promote innovation. They also promote teamwork and collaboration as well. Key elements employee satisfaction, customer oriented, delegation of work Primary market research to determine need and wants of customers Ridwan, w hich element do you think has been the most and least important till now towards the strategy and why? Julia I believe teamwork, flexible communication and customer orientated view has been the most important element towards this strategy. Flexible communication and teamwork make working in bridge extremely easy. Then the environment in bridge is also very relaxed and laid back. Of course, there are basic ground rules, but nonetheless their roles for the work environment is extremely simple and easy to understand. I did mention that flexible communication and the laid back culture is very helpful as an employee, however I still believe that the level of formality in the communication can be a bit more strict. Working under set of rules gives you a better sense of direction.
Ridwan, do you think more elements be added or removed to the organizational strategy to help design the organizational structure and why so? Julia - For now, I believe they should add a formal training and development program. Or maybe they could provide a bit more transparent mission and vision statements. The recruitment process can be improved as well. These are some elements that I think can be added in order to support the organizational strategy so that it helps them design the organizational structure. Organizational structure is an important element that needs to be added to the firm. This will provide a better direction for the employees. I wouldn't remove anything at the moment. As an employee with previous experience, I would suggest bridge needs to build their experience as well. The elements that they are dealing with now are those experiences that will help them decide the future course of the business. Ridwan, w hat are the current organizational values of the firm and how would you describe them? Julia I believe bridge is a firm that has respect, integrity, sense of collaboration, honesty and innovation as their values. There are other values that I think are practiced at Bridge as well. However I do not know them by heart. Working in teams gives you a sense of collaboration and strong feelings of integrity. The employees in the managerial teams are honest. They share any setbacks or mistakes they face in the course of their work. Also I believe inclusivity is something that I felt in Bridge as well. You do feel you are included in every decision, as an employee that makes you feel extremely important and respected in your workplace. This leads to another organizational value which is taking initiatives and being accountable for your own work.
Ridwan, how would you describe the organizational culture? Julia - I find the organizational culture to be extremely innovative and they highly focus on self- improvement. It's a very relaxed environment to work in. However, at times I find it to be too relaxed and informal as well. As an employee, I like to work under a set of rules because that gives me a clear direction to work towards. All the bridge considers the importance of a proper work life balance. That is one of the main reasons why I have joined bridge as I feel I have a better work life balance. I do understand why the culture is so relaxed and informal. This is mainly because of the young workforce and the young managerial team as well. They don't want you to feel like you're working instead you're doing something that you will actually enjoy. It's a very diverse culture bridges well and I believe that is also one of the main reason while the workplace is so innovative and there are so many different types of ideas that comes from different perspectives that sit on the table of Bridge. Ridwan, with appropriate reasons, do you think the current organizational culture influences the way work is done and decisions are made? Julia - yes of course, I believe organizational culture is one of the core elements of a company and it definitely paves the way in order to understand how work is done and how decisions are made. As I mentioned before like how the organizational culture is at bridge, it really affects the way our work is done and the decisions are made. There aren't a lot of deadlines which makes work extremely relaxed and easy. It also makes the work a bit more intuitive and innovative as we are not bound to find out something in a given time frame. Instead we get to take our time finish our work and submitted when we feel like we have done something good. Yes of course not always it's great but the outcome till now has been extremely good for us. Like I mentioned that there are times when you need a set of rules. Yes maybe bridge can work on that. So in short I would definitely say that the organizational culture does influence the way work is done and how all the decisions are made.

Ridwan, how would you describe the current size of the organization? Julia - it's a startup. I don't know if I can use any other words to explain the current size but it's a startup and I think there was one turned into a scale up. Ridwan, can you describe the firm's growth strategy, and whether it involves expanding through internal development or acquiring other companies? Julia According to participant 1, We want to provide an extremely innovative work environment and in order to do this we want to develop our workplace more. We want self development to take place for the employees and in order to do so I think we would love to expand through internal development rather than just buying a company. Also that would bring a change in our company culture because then we would have to think about the other company that we have acquired as well. We also want to increase our reach to the customer and sales of our application as well. So its definitely through internal development rather than buying any company. According to participant 1, Currently bridge do not have the capability to acquire any other organization. It is because bridge do not have adequate manpower and resources. Participant 1, works closely with the managers and the managers has decided that they are not going to acquire any organization in anytime soon. Participant 1, shares that the main aim of managers is to invest heavily within the organization and develop a strong internal team. The main objective of bridge is to create an environment in which innovation and creativity prevails and in order to do so the organization have to develop skilled workforce. Ridwan, how would you describe the influence of government policies on the firm’s activities and decisions? Julia
According to participant 1 - till now we haven't faced a situation where we had to change our business model or business goals in order to adjust with the government policies. From the very beginning we did accept that yes governments policies do have a huge influence on the firms activities and decisions. Which is why from the very beginning we kept on working by understanding the policies and by following the policies and then making our decision so yes I do believe that if you are asking if it has an influence yes it definitely does but for now it has been helpful for us by using the grants and the schemes. Then again in the future if our role does change yes we will have to change our ways of working to Ridwan, how would you describe the firm’s ability to adapt to changes caused by the external environment such as competition from other firms? Julia - competitions from other firms will always keep on increasing. This is something that we will have to shake hands with and then proceed. However the farm has a very agile and adaptive workforce. They have the proper resources to adapt to changes caused by any external environment. Competition from other firms is a difficult external aspect but yes I believe we do have the ability to change. Also in the near future if the size of the company grows I do believe we have enough resources to carter to that change. Then again we would have to include contingency plans and include an organizational structure that also understands that business environments are always fluctuating and they have to be ready to face any changes that might take place due to the external environment. Ridwan, how does the organization approach balancing the need for stability and predictability with the desire for innovation and adaptability in its operations and planning? Julia - yes, I believe the organization does desire for innovation and adaptability in its operation and planning. Like I previously mentioned that the firm is agile and innovative. This makes
being stable pretty much impossible. Also being a new form, I think stability is something that is very difficult to look for. Which is why I think it's innovation and adaptability. Ridwan, how would you describe the communication style in the firm considering the level of formality? Julia - the communication style is very relaxed and informal. At times I think it can be a bit too informal which I mentioned that I do not like as an employee. However till now it has been extremely lenient and yes it brings out an open we have communicating with everyone. People are honest about their work and they share they work with each other regularly to get proper feedbacks and improve their work constantly so considering the level of formality I would say it's not that formal and it goes with the way how bridge works. Ridwan Can you describe the decision-making process within the company? Is it a top-down approach where managers make most of the decisions, or is there room for employee input and participation in the decision-making process? How are decisions communicated to the rest of the team? Julia - the decision making process is not like any traditional company or businesses where only the top level managers or the higher authorities take the decision. There is always room for employee input and participation in the whole decision making process. To describe it a bit, the decision making process usually involves all the employees working for bridge. Whenever a decision is to be made , the idea is communicated throughout the whole company and everyone gets to say their opinion. Mostly they work in teams so each of the teams come up with their own answer and then finally we get to cultivate the best factors

from all these opinions. Finally the decision is then communicated to the team by either e- mail or by a meeting. Ridwan Thank you, we have reached the end of the meeting.
