The two strategies the teachers in the videos use to manage their classrooms to support their students are:
Supporting Dual Language Learners in an Early Childhood Classroom.
The teachers clarify to families that their children benefit from words, stories, and conversation, providing the language they are comfortable speaking. This helps their child learn both their language and English.
Inclusion in Early Childhood Education.
The teachers will have a team to help support the educator and the students depending on the needs of the students, which are:
a.
Birth to Three
b.
IEP
c.
Speech Therapy d.
Occupational Therapy
e.
Physical Therapy f.
Psychologist, behaviorist, and/or social worker
Implementing the strategies impacts the learning typically developing in developing peers
in the classroom teachers can initiate procedures in the classroom to cultivate the social skills of a child with autism in the classroom.
The additional strategies I would use for a child who is a dual language learner:
1.
Establish a welcoming learning community.
I would involve my students in creating a set of classroom rules and guidelines that they all sign off at the beginning of each school year.
2.
Make learning accessible through a wide range of activities.
My students will learn when they can access multimodal learning activities throughout the day.
3.
Frame diversity as a strength.
I will model that a positive outlook toward diversity is great in any classroom.
4.
Incorporate creativity and movement through music.
I will use music to engage and have fun learning about other languages and cultures in the classroom.
5.
Communicate regularly with families.
I will help family members get involved in the learning process and feel excited to
share new skills outside school. Learning a new language is challenging but rewarding because it is a great way to communicate with my students and their parents.
