Report
We should learn a new language at the age of 3-7, because we can take in all the information of phonemes and other things that form a word. As we age up, the ability to take in new information grows smaller hence why so many languages that are dying, teach their language to the young and not the old. The best way to learn is through social interaction because as humans, we are social learners and by teaching children through social interaction (via through play, initiating conversations until they’re able to support themselves through one). Children cannot learn through video or audio, because its not interactive. Hence why TV isn’t beneficial to children, because even though the educational TV program tries to be interactive, a child can easily just say something else and the TV will keep going. How her study relates to the Frencha nd German study is that it discerns the sounds that babies make, for example French babies have higher intonation. She’s studying this because, this can easily help detect learning disabilities like dyslexia and help children cope with these disabilities. You can see the Fis phenomenon through telegraphic stage Telegraphic stage is seen in fis phenomenon Fis phenomenon typically found in telegraphic stage Fis’s researchers were Bruko and Brown. They studied what children can say and what they understood. The adults will say the word “fis” in a sentence, if a child does not catch on, then they would not say it which means the child may not recognize this. If a child recognizes the error, they may tell the adult “No, it’s fis!” Children at 12 months is coming into holophrasitc stage, and after it would be the telegraphic stage. Child at 12 months is at holophrasitc, after is telegraphic stage Children at 12 is coming at holophrastic stage, coming after is telegraphic stage Holophrastic at 12 months, after is telegraphic Vocab depends on others, so parent has to constantly conversate with them (adjacency pairs) Vocab depends on others, so carektaker has to constantly conversate with them (adjacency pairs) Adjacency pairs, caretaker has to constantly conveersate with them Babbling: Becomes attuned with rhythm Cries in language specific 6 weeks: smiles, cooing, repetitive 3-4 months: Creating syllables and sounds, making attempts at forming words 6 months: mimicking 9 months: More babbling toward lang 10 months: Phoneme develop, sound become more developed BBecomes attuned with babbling 6 weeks: smiling, cooing, repetitive 3-4 months: creating syllables sounds, words that are being formed
