Should this be an argument for tougher air pollution laws? Do you think
that the success of the Clean Air Act should be an argument for the
strengthening of water pollution legislation?
As the CAA of 1970 gave Californians better quality of life and
significantly reductions in air pollution, we need to understand that this
law was created more than 50 years ago. Although it has been working
well, I think there’s a need to review this law and make new findings
because the air as we see in the city, specially in DTLA, seems to be
very polluted. This law should be toughened that way we can breathe a
cleaner air in exchange lower medical expenses and a much better
quality of life as well as providing ourselves longer lives.
The most dangerous pollutants are carbon monoxide, sulfur diode,
nitrogen oxides and many companies still produce goods and products
with old machinery that are probably emitting these hazardous
pollutants that are bad for the environment and most importantly, to
the public heath.
It is our responsibility to keep our waters clean so it would be a good
idea to review this law because a lot of companies are still discharging
dangerous pollutants into our rivers and lakes.
This act should be reviewed every 25 - 30 years to make sure that
people are receiving the best quality water. Making this law toughen,
we will have much longer life’s. We should reduce the flow of pollutants
that are discharged into our waterways and rivers.
