April 2019
TIME:
Approximately 4.15am
LOCATION:
O’Kanes Off Licence, Northern Ireland
INCIDENT:
Theft of ATM using and excavator
WITNESSES:
CCTV footage from two locations.
One directly above ATM,
the second adjacent on the right of the ATM.
SUMMARY:
At approximately 4.15am on Thursday 7
th
April 2019, a Komatsu PC130
Excavator with a single occupant (driver) turned left into the O’Kane’s Off
Licence.
The excavator, using the bucket, forcibly gained entry to the
premises.
The driver was wearing dark pants, dark jacket, dark shoes and
a black balaclava.
They appear to be of slim build.
A dark coloured Caddy van, travelling in the same direction as the
excavator followed shortly after.
The vehicle is seen to reverse into the
driveway and park approximately level with the gate posts.
Two
occupants exit the vehicle.
The passenger exited from the left-hand side
of the vehicle; they proceed to walk a short distance behind the vehicle to
watch the progress of the excavator.
The passenger of medium build was
dressed in dark pants, dark jacket with a hood covering their head, black
balaclava covering their face and white shoes.
The driver exited the
vehicle from the right-hand side, they walked to the front of the vehicle,
stopping directly in front of the vehicle before walking a short distance to
the right.
They are seen to check both directions before walking to the
rear of the vehicle on the drivers’ side.
The driver was of medium build
wearing dark pants, dark jacket, balaclava and light-coloured shoes.
The excavator, positioned in front of the ATM, on the right-hand side of the
building, used the bucket and hydraulic arm to breach the exterior wall of
the structure.
After several attempts the excavator was able to breach
the exterior and detach the ATM from its mounting.
There was extensive
structural damage to the Off Licence building.
The excavator driver, using the bucket, lifted the ATM from the debris. The
proceeded to swing the hydraulic arm to the left, in the direction of the
driveway.
The driver exited the cab and appears to inspect the ATM prior
to departing the frame.
The caddy van reversed, with its rear doors aligned with the ATM.
Two
passengers exit from the passenger side of the caddy van.
The driver of
the excavator returns to the cab.
The driver lifts the ATM into an opening

in the rear (of the roof) of the caddy van.
