Report
In a previous course you created a classroom management plan. Based on the demographics of your student teaching placement and what you have learned throughout your program, revise this plan and post it in your professional portfolio. For this discussion question, summarize your plan and describe the changes you made to make the plan more appropriate for your current students. Classroom management is always great to have, and be prepared to tweak every so often. It should be created with students in mind from the start and based on their reports but readily available to make changes to as you get to know your students personally and how they work. Incorporating your students' background, abilities, interests, etc., will create a safe space for your students where they will be comfortable enough to share, and they will know that you genuinely have an interest in them and what they have to offer. You will understand how to make lessons related and engaging for your students, and you will be prepared to include elements from their backgrounds in the classroom. With my current plan, I based it around the importance of creating a safe and welcoming safe for everyone regardless of disability or not. Also, I updated it to include rules around unnecessary tech use. I have noticed with my current students that easily accessible tech is a massive distraction for them, leading to complete derailing from the in-class goal of the day. Another important detail from my plan is the level of confidentiality maintained. I used to work as a counselor before joining the classroom; maintaining a high level of privacy in students' files from those who do not have/need access is always required. A students' rights need to be protected, and confidential information does not fall into the wrong hands. I plan to have a filing cabinet by my desk that will be locked to store my students' records. Every student in my class is a precious human being that deserves to be respected and protected. I plan to honor my students' needs and do anything I possibly can to make sure that everyone in my classroom is respected and cared for by fellow adults in the room and their peers.
