Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well, and I'm excited to be part of this class. My name is Eric Adom and I prefer to be called Eric, I currently lived in Maryland in the Eastern Standard time zone, I am pursuing a master’s degree in information technology with concentration in Information Assurance and Security .This class would be my six class if I am able to finish successfully and I'm confident that this class is going to be a rewarding and enriching experience for all of us. I just separated from active duty into the reserves, of the United States Army throughout my journey in the Army, I embarked on couple deployments. So far, the experience I had has been astounding. I formed a great working relationship with my comrades; in the spirit of teamwork, we nurtured and supported each other to excel and performed to the best of our abilities. I enjoy cooking, working out and listening to music. True: Honey never spoils. Archaeologists have found pots of honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that are over 3,000 years old and still perfectly edible. Not True: Bananas are berries. Now, can you guess which statement is not true fellow Classmate. Part ii Department of Defense Directive 8570.1 and Department of Defense Directive 8140 are both significant policies that focus on the management of Information Assurance (IA) and cybersecurity workforce within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). DoD Directive 8570.1: Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program This directive establishes the Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (IAWIP) within the DoD. It aims to ensure that individuals performing IA functions in the DoD possess the appropriate knowledge and skills. DoD Directive 8570.1 primarily affects military personnel, civilian employees, and contractors engaged in IA roles within the DoD. The directive outlines the requirements for training, certification, and management of the DoD's IA workforce. It categorizes IA positions into specific levels (IAT, IAM, IASAE, etc.) and mandates corresponding certifications for each level. DoD Directive 8140: Cyberspace Workforce Management Directive 8140 establishes policy and assigns responsibilities for managing the DoD Cyberspace Workforce. It focuses on developing and maintaining a qualified and sustainable cyberspace workforce. Similar to Directive 8570.1, Directive 8140 affects military personnel, civilian employees, and contractors involved in cyberspace-related roles within the DoD. This directive replaces Directive 8570.01-M and provides a framework for managing the DoD Cyberspace Workforce through the use of personnel categories (Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce) and associated certifications.
In summary, both directives play crucial roles in enhancing the cybersecurity posture of the DoD. They establish standardized requirements for training and certifying IA and cyberspace professionals, ensuring a baseline level of competence across the workforce. I am looking forward to a great discussion with each and everyone here .Good luck . References Khando, K., Gao, S., Islam, S. M., & Salman, A. (2021).
