Tran 1 MIS 255-Asignment 3 1/28/2018 Deliverable 2 – Microsoft HealthVault and how it meets HITECH Act Meaningful Use According to clinfowiki.org , HealthVault is defined as a free personal health record system with web based and mobile platforms started in 2007 by Microsoft cooperation. It was mentioned that this system was originally designed to be use in the United State only, but it was allowed to use in United Kingdom as well. Microsoft HealthVault allows user to gather, store, use and share information for themselves and their family. The step of using HealthVault is very simple. User can upload and add their information through apps on their personal device or online account of HealthVault. Their health record can be shared with anyone in the list that they choose. In the website of HealthVault system, this system has many advantages that user could get from using it. First, it allowed user to organize family health information. Information can be stored in one place, online, and available to user at any time needed. Apps and personal health devices can help user to connect to HealthVault to get their health record easily. All the details of health information could be kept track, such as medication, health history, condition illness, allergies, lab results, even X-rays, scans, etc. Next, it would become a good resource for user to be better prepared for doctor visits, and unexpected emergencies. Because this system is very easy to access, user just basically has everything in their hand. So, data about their health information can just be pull at any time needed. his system is very convenient for sharing information with trust people like family, medical team. It keeps track and update continuously all information that user inputs. In addition, it can help user to set in order to achieve fitness goals with weight management dashboard. On the website healthit.gov , meaningful use is defined as using certified electronic health record technology to improve quality health, safety, efficiency and reduce health disparities. It helps to engage patients and family, as well as improve care coordination, population and public health. Also, meaningful use help to maintain privacy and security of patient information. Meaningful use set specific objectives that eligible professional and hospital must meet to qualify. There are 3 stages of meaningful use. Stage 1 is data capture and sharing, while stage 2 is advance clinical processes, and stage 3 is improved outcomes. On the website of US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, professional must meet 15 core objectives, 5 objectives out of a menu set of 10, reporting requirements for 6 clinical quality measures (CQMs), 3 core or alternate core CQMs and 3 of 38 from an additional set of CQMs. For hospital, they must meet 14 core objectives, 5 objectives out of a menu set of 10, and reporting requirements for 15 CQMs. On the website, they also mention the some of the core objective for meaningful use of EHR for professional and hospital, such as recording smoking status for patients 13 years or older, protect electronic health information, maintain active medication allergy list, implement one clinical decision support rule, and recording demographics, etc. According Microsoft website, Microsoft HealthVault have met all the requirements and has EHR modular certification for meaningful use stage 2 objectives. Those objectives are view, download and transmit to a 3 rd party (inpatient and ambulatory settings), automated numerator recording (inpatient and ambulatory settings). For example, if new data is available, patient will be notified and able to view, download or transmit their data on HealthVault.
Tran 2 In my opinion, Microsoft HealthVault is something that I as an individual would use. It’s a convenience tool that I would use to keep track of myself, and my family’s medical record. Information would be available at any time that I needed, especially in emergency case. All data and information is just ready in our hand through an apps on mobile devices. So, it would be a yes from me for Microsoft HealthVault. Work Cites
