Definitions
(3pts)
1.
IMAP: Internet Message Access Protocol – A secure protocol that email
clients use to retrieve messages from a message agent (most
commonly a mail server).
2.
Virtual Machine Escape Protection – Protection against code that can
be run on the virtual machine that allows for the malicious software to
“break out” of the virtual machine and interact directly with the
hypervisor, compromising the security of the bare metal system.
3.
SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol – A standard internet

Key takeaways, or:
What did you learn?
(4pts)
I never knew that a “Confidential mode” feature was built into Gmail. I’ve been
using Gmail for over a decade now, and I’m still learning new features. This
could be very useful if you are worried about the recipient of your message
having their account compromised.
An example of this could be someone using the recipient’s computer while
they are away. In this scenario, the recipient’s computer would likely already
be logged into their Gmail account. If “confidential mode” was enabled on
their message, they would need access to the recipient’s phone in order to see
the message, adding an additional layer of security.
