Work Health and Safety
Policy
It is the policy of The Righteous Bean to provide a safe and healthy work environment for its
employees, contractors and customers, and to recognise the importance of keeping the
health and safety standards in our workplaces under constant review. The Righteous Bean
believes that all workplace injuries are preventable. The responsibility for safety begins with
the Managing Director and is shared throughout the organisation with all representatives of
The Righteous Bean, employees and any visitors to our workplaces.
The purpose of the WHS policy is to identify work health safety responsibilities at each
function and level in line with WHS legislative requirements, as well as outline the
commitment of The Righteous Bean, as 'Person conducting a business or undertaking'
(PCBU), to:
provide and maintain a work environment that is safe and without risk to health and
safety, including the entering and exiting of the workplace
provide safe appliances, structures and systems
identify hazards and manage risks and review risk control measures
provide safe systems of work
provide adequate facilities for the welfare of our workers at workplaces under our
Management and control
provide workers with information, instruction, training or supervision needed for
them to work safely and without risks to their health

WHS Responsibilities
Our Business as a PCBU
Under WHS legislation, The Righteous Bean has a primary duty of care to ensure the health
and safety of The Righteous Bean employees, contractors, visitors and customers in the
workplace, so far as reasonably practicable.
The Righteous Bean’s Officers:
The Righteous Bean Officers must exercise due diligence to ensure that The Righteous Bean
complies with its duties under work health and safety legislation. In demonstrating due
diligence, officers must show that they have taken reasonable steps to:
have an up to date knowledge of work health and safety matters
understand business operations
understand hazards and risks
ensure that The Righteous Bean uses appropriate resources and processes to
eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety
ensure The Righteous Bean has processes for receiving, considering and responding
to information on hazards and risks in a timely way
ensure that The Righteous Bean implements processes for complying with any duty
they have, and
verify that all of this is being done.
An officer is a person who makes decisions or participates in making decisions that affect
the whole, or a substantial part, of a business or undertaking and has the capacity to
significantly affect the financial standing of the business or undertaking. In the context of
The Righteous Bean, this refers to the Managing Director
The Righteous Bean’s workers (and others)
All Workers
The Righteous Bean workers (including managers, employees, contractors, sub-contractors
and volunteers) must, while at work, take reasonable care for their own safety and ensure
that they do not adversely affect the health and safety of others. A worker must comply
with any reasonable instruction and co-operate with The Righteous Bean WHS Policy and
WHS procedures.
Managers and team leaders
Team leaders and managers are responsible for ensuring that their team members have a
clear understanding of WHS legislative and organisational requirements relevant to their
WHS
Policy and Procedure

job role. Team leaders and managers must also keep their teams up to date with any
changes, issues or hazards that may impact their work.
Team leaders and managers must ensure that the information provided is understood by
every person within their team.
Customers and visitors
The Righteous Bean clients, customers and visitors must also take reasonable care for their
own safety and ensure that they do not adversely affect the health and safety of others. A
worker must comply with any reasonable instruction and co-operate with The Righteous
Bean’s WHS Policy and WHS procedures.
Health and Safety Representative
A Health and Safety Representative (HSR) will be elected by employees to represent workers
on health and safety matters. The elected HSR will be provided the opportunity to undertake
WHS training at the company’s expense and will be provided adequate time to carry out
their HSR role at normal pay.
The HSR will facilitate the flow of information about health and safety between the business
and employees.
The HSR will monitor the health and safety actions taken by the business, investigate
workers' complaints and consider anything that might be a risk to the health and safety of
the workers they represent.
If a HSR has completed SafeWork NSW approved HSR training, they can also direct unsafe
work to stop when they have a reasonable concern that carrying out the work would expose
a worker to a serious risk.
A direction to stop work can only be given if the issue has not been resolved by consultation
(unless the risk is so serious that it's unreasonable to consult first).
Procedures
Participative Processes
WHS issues will be discussed during staff meetings. Weekly team meetings at each site
provide an opportunity for staff to discuss immediate concerns. WHS is to be a permanent
agenda item at all team meetings. The team leader will facilitate WHS discussions
throughout staff meetings. Any issues, hazards or suggestions relating to WHS should be
recorded in the meeting minutes and reported to the HSR and Management immediately.
WHS will be a permanent agenda item at Management Meetings and Quarterly Staff
Meetings. The HSR is responsible for presenting this part of the meeting agenda.

housekeeping actions to remedy hazards during the inspection
.
