Introduction In two-sided platforms, trust is essential. The establishment and maintenance of trust become even more crucial as these platforms get bigger. Robust rating and review systems were established by platforms such as Airbnb, Etsy, and Uber. To reach a wider audience, several platforms extended the reach of their services to additional cities and areas. Their effort to fully understand people’s needs, led them to start using personal data softwares. That, of course, gave them the possibility to reach out to more costumers, enhance their content and gain a competitive advantage. There are, though, a few basic rules and principles they should have complied with in order to successfully use personal data without interfering in any risks associated with misuse. Principles when processing personal data In a time when people may easily connect with each other for services through digital platforms, protecting personal information has become crucial. Well-known companies in the online marketplace space, like Etsy, Uber, and Airbnb, follow basic guidelines to protect customer privacy and security. Six fundamental ideas that guide these platforms' handling of personal data are revealed by looking closely at their operations. Prioritizing user consent acquisition over the collection and processing of personal data is shared by Airbnb, Etsy and Uber. One of the main principles is transparency, which is demonstrated by the fact that consumers are given clear and understandable privacy regulations outlining the kinds of data that are gathered, how they are used, and who else they might share it with( Oskam, J. and Boswijk, A. (2016) . Uber, Airbnb, and Etsy all understand how important it is to inform people so they can make an informed decision about revealing their personal information. According to the principle of purpose limitation, personal information should only be gathered for clear and defined objectives and never be put to use for activities that are incompatible with it. Furthermore, data reduction is utilized to guarantee that only the information needed for the specified tasks is gathered. Uber, for example, demonstrates a
commitment to restricting the use of personal data to its fundamental activities by collecting location data only for the purpose of delivering transportation services. A fundamental tenet of Uber, Airbnb, and Etsy is guaranteeing the security and integrity of customer data. Strong security measures are put in place to protect personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, change, and destruction( Tieke He, Shenghao Chen, Lian Hao, Jia Liu,2019) . Encryption algorithms, authentication methods, and routine audits all help to create a safe environment and give users confidence that their data is being treated with the highest care. These platforms all share the goal of giving users control over their personal information. Users of Uber, Airbnb, and Etsy may usually check, modify, and remove their information. They also give users the ability to change privacy settings, which gives them the ability to decide whether details on their accounts are visible or hidden. In the digital sphere, the emphasis on user control is consistent with the concepts of user autonomy and agency. Each of the three platforms understands how critical it is to take responsibility for their data policies. They pledge to abide by all applicable data protection laws and guidelines, frequently designating Data Protection Officers to manage privacy-related issues. As evidence of their dedication to moral data stewardship, Airbnb, Etsy, and Uber take precautions to guarantee that both their internal operations and external partnerships abide by accepted privacy standards. The idea of constant development is essential in the ever-changing world of digital platforms. In response to changing regulatory constraints, technology improvements, and user expectations, Airbnb, Etsy, and Uber periodically evaluate and change their privacy policies and practices( Saumya Chaturvedi, Vimal Mishra, Nitin Mishra,2017) . This flexibility demonstrates a commitment to maintaining the highest privacy standards and keeping up with the evolving field of personal data protection. In conclusion, fundamental values that emphasize user privacy and data protection are shared by Uber, Airbnb, and Etsy. These platforms work to provide a safe and reliable environment for their users by limiting their purposes, requiring informed consent, implementing security measures, granting user control, holding users accountable, and committing to ongoing development.

Risks associated with misuse of Business Intelligence For businesses like Airbnb, Etsy, and Uber, business intelligence (BI) has become a vital tool that facilitates data-driven decision-making and strategic insights. But BI's revolutionary potential also carries some inherent risk that, if not properly handled, can have unfavorable effects. In the context of these companies, this essay examines four fundamental categories of dangers related to the misuse of business intelligence. The danger of data breaches and privacy violations is one of the main issues with business intelligence. Large volumes of sensitive user data, including location information, transaction history, and personal details, are gathered and analyzed by Airbnb, Etsy, and Uber. A major risk is posed by misuse or unauthorized access to this data, which could result in penalties from the law, harm to one's reputation, and a decline in customer confidence( Suraj Juddoo, 2015) . To reduce these threats and guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of business intelligence data, strict procedures for data encryption, access controls, and frequent security audits are essential. Biases present in the data that BI systems evaluate can still affect them. BI is used by Uber, Airbnb, and Etsy to inform choices about pricing policies, service improvements, and user recommendations. On the other hand, biased data might reinforce and magnify preconceived notions already in place if it is utilized to train these algorithms. This raises moral questions that could result in discriminatory actions. To promote justice and openness in the decision-making process, businesses need to have policies in place to detect and address biases in BI algorithms. Businesses using BI have a significant problem from the constantly changing landscape of privacy and data protection laws. Each of the jurisdictions in which Airbnb, Etsy, and Uber operate has its own set of laws governing the gathering, handling, and archiving of user data. There may be serious consequences for breaking certain laws, such the CCPA or GDPR. To minimize the risks of non-compliance, it is necessary to maintain solid systems for data governance, make proactive adjustments, and continuously audit BI practices to ensure they are
in line with changing legal frameworks. Business Intelligence (BI) is essential for helping firms make strategic decisions, but relying too much on data without understanding its limitations can put operations at danger. Uber, Airbnb, and Etsy need to be aware of the "overfitting" phenomenon, which occurs when BI models get excessively adapted to past data, making them less flexible for use in novel situations( Zaher Ali Al-Sai, Rosni Abdullah, Mohd heikal husin,2019). In conclusion, while Uber, Airbnb, and Etsy embrace the revolutionary potential of business intelligence, they also need to manage the risks involved in order to protect consumer trust, uphold moral principles, and adhere to legal obligations. Comprehensive risk management strategies must address risks related to data security and privacy, mitigate biases, ensure regulatory compliance, and keep operational risks in mind. Conclusion In conclusion, there are a plethora of potential for data-driven decision-making and strategic breakthroughs when businesses such as Airbnb, Etsy, and Uber integrate business intelligence (BI) into their operations. To guarantee its ethical and efficient use, it is necessary to acknowledge and manage the inherent risks connected to business intelligence. The hazards that have been identified are many, ranging from worries about data security and privacy to possible biases in algorithms used for decision-making, difficulties complying with changing rules, and operational risks related to an excessive dependence on previous data. In order for these businesses to fully benefit from business intelligence, they must strike a careful balance between harnessing the potential of data insights and managing the many ethical, legal, and operational constraints.
