Assignment 5 Dropbox Non Governmental organizations play a crucial role in emergency management operations. An example of an NGO is the American Red Cross. They operate as an independent non profit organization and they aid in disaster relief and they make sure that everyone is prepared. They also provide training on various emergency response situations and evacuation procedures that help communities respond to and recover from different disasters safely. NIMS is a national framework that outlines how we should respond to various incidents. It provides an approach for managing emergency situations, disasters, and other crazy events that may occur. The NIMS revision process includes updates and upgrades to ensure that the system is effective and up to date. FEMA will typically do an assessment to see what they need for specific disaster situations and from there they can add or change things as needed. I think that equipping all first responders with some sort of mobile device will be a great amendment to add. This will be helpful because it provides responders with instant communication capabilities and information sharing between field personnel and all involved parties. Mobile devices also have GPS capabilities which allows first responders to track their locations. This feature keeps everyone safe and helps support resource allocation. Implementing this change will enhance the systems performance during disaster situations because it strengthens effective communication and incident management response.
