CHCCCS007 Develop and implement service programs
This task requires you to work with your classmates in the simulated community services environment within the classroom, while basing this task on your own personal work placement organisation. You will not actually be implementing this program within your work placement organisation – but will be implementing it during class time using your classmates and assessor, who will role play your colleagues as and when appropriate. Basing it on your real work placement in the community services sector will enable you to further study the organisation and its goals, practices and policies and make it relevant to you. Ideas for a service program within your organisation’s setting could include:
A volunteer program (e.g. companionship)
A wellness program (e.g. leisure, nutrition or interest-based)
A mentoring program (e.g. buddy or big brother/sister program)
or any other service program you feel may suit the goals of the organisation and meet the needs of those it has been set up to assist. Your assessor can discuss other ideas with you before begin if you have any doubts or questions. The guidelines for the program are as follows:
It must run for at least four weeks and not be a once-off event.
There is a budget of $5,000.
You are restricted to using two existing staff members (these can be existing positions within your work placement organisation) and new staff cannot be recruited. You can make use of volunteers if necessary but you would be responsible for recruiting these people.
Approvals must be obtained after the planning stage is completed and then again after the program development has taken place prior to implementation. In order to complete this activity you need to be familiar with, and have access to, your work placement organisation’s policies and procedures on risk management. 2.
Plan your program.
Using the Service Program Plan template, develop your plan for the program. During this process you will need to:
plan for consumer participation and engagement
investigate individual needs so you can base your service program on these needs
explore barriers to participation
plan for consultation with those who will be accessing the service to ensure it is relevant and flexible to their needs
investigate the broader organisational context and how this may impact on service delivery.
When you have completed all parts of your template, submit to your assessor assuming they are the Centre Manager for approval. 3.
Consultation.
Based on your plan, you now need to consult with the people who will be accessing
the program. These will be your classmates who will act as if they will be accessing the program – but will be based on their real needs. How you consult with them is ANIE-CHCCCS007-SAT-V1.0 Page | 12 of 17

up to you but you need to provide evidence of this and your assessor needs to see this happen. You may choose to take notes, create a survey for them to complete or
you may like to hold interviews or a focus group. You need to consult with at least three classmates about the following:
Based on your proposed program idea, how will this benefit them?
What specific needs do they have and how do they feel they could be best met?
Are there any changes they would like to see made to the program planning idea and why?
Your assessor will observe this consultation and you will need to submit any documented evidence of it, such as meeting notes or completed surveys. 4.
Develop your program.
Review your planning document along with the feedback provided to you and then plan your program using the Service Program template. Your program needs to include the following:
A mechanism (process) to engage the people who will be accessing the program so they have a voice in the management process.
A link to internal and external services that can be accessed in support and extension of the program.
Financial, human and physical resource requirements to run the program (you can consider using existing staff within your work placement organisation or base this upon the assumption that you will use volunteers).
A complaints policy for the program including an associated procedure.
Risk analysis.
Ongoing feedback and evaluation mechanisms for participant feedback.
Priorities, timelines and responsibilities.
When you have developed your program, submit to your assessor assuming they are the Centre Manager for approval.
5.
Implement your program.
You now need to implement aspects of your program by doing the following:
Communicate the roles and responsibilities of the staff or volunteers who are involved in running the program via email.
Develop a training session to run with the staff or volunteers (this can be a meeting agenda, induction document or presentation)
Coordinate the delivery of the program by contacting two external services or networks so you can meet multi-faceted needs of some of your participants – this could be for any aspect of your program and it could include coordinating quotes for a certain activity, emailing charities or not-for-profits for information ANIE-CHCCCS007-SAT-V1.0 Page | 13 of 17
CHCCCS007 Develop and implement service programs
that can be included as part of your program, or engaging in online forums or discussions about the program topic to support participants with diverse or challenging needs.
Develop a feedback survey for collecting feedback from the program participants after they have participated in it (this can be completed in a Word document or designed using an online tool like Survey Monkey). Submit:
an email to your assessor that is composed as if they are one of the staff or volunteers involved in the running of the program.
the training documentation you developed
evidence of your collaboration with external networks and services
your feedback survey you have developed.
6.
Monitor and evaluate your program
You are now required to monitor and evaluate the program. Assume that the program has had its first pilot.
Access the Feedback Received
document and review the information contained in it against the information in your program document
Complete an evaluation report in the template provided. Make sure you complete all sections of the template.
Make modifications to the original program based on your review and feedback
and submit as Service Program V2
and ensure that these changes will not exceed the budget or deviate from the original objectives and program and policy framework. ANIE-CHCCCS007-SAT-V1.0 Page | 14 of 17
