6. What financial, legal and contractual obligations must you finalise for your project?
4.2 Assist in completing financial, legal and contractual obligations
KE - organisational financial, legal and contractual obligations
Financial
I must ensure that all the suppliers have been successful paid prior to the closure of the project.
All the costs must be well recorded and supported and have the same included in the financial report to be handed
over to the project owner/sponsor.
Ensure all the permits and approvals have been paid for before handing over the project.
Legal
Obtain all the necessary approvals for the construction and valuation of the building together with the safety report
before handover the project to the owner.
Have all the contracts and agreements signed and approved by all the related parties to ensure the success of the
project.
Contractual
The contractual requirement will involve conducting a review of all the agreements first to ensure that all the
activities were contracted as per the agreement and that all the services have been paid.
Review the agreements with the various players in the project and analyse to ensure that all the services were met
and performed to the required standards.
Ensure all the contracts have been signed by both the involved stakeholders to avoid any future contradictions.
7. Provide 3 suggestions and explain how they could improve the project performance in the future.
4
4.3 Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement to project performance
Frequent updating of the risk register. It is necessary that the register be frequently updated to ensure that
risks are managed and mitigated before they have a major impact on the organisation.
Change to the project scope. In order to minimize delay, it is necessary that the project team include all the
stakeholders in coming up with the project scope. This helps in proper planning and implementation of
activities in the project.
Have proper governance structure. A good governance structure helps to ensure good coordination of
activities in the organisation and ensure proper implementation of activities. Good decision making a good
reporting procedure will be necessary in ensuring achievement of project timelines and approvals.
8. Review the project performance based on all the information provided in questions 1 – 4 and explain at least 2
lessons learned.
4.4 Review project performance, assessments and document lessons learned
Having a contingency plan helps to keep the project in check and in the required timeline. Developing a project
timeline will be crucial to help cover up uncertain events such as absentees from work as the work and the tasks will
be covered up.
Stakeholder involvement is key in ensuring achievement of objectives. Involving all the stakeholders including the
project sponsor, suppliers, government and other relevant stakeholders in the construction helps to ensure success
of the project. Lack of involving all the stakeholders leads to frequent change requests to the project scope and this
could lead to delay in project execution.
