2 Activity #13 I have to take immediate action to fulfill my legal and ethical obligations after learning of a disturbing report about possible violations of federal immigration law at my new job. A thorough investigation is required because certain social security numbers do not match the identities of the employees, which raises concerns about undocumented aliens working. It becomes evident that a more thorough inquiry is required to address ethical and legal issues when my management gives me the order to cease the investigation, citing the company's concern regarding labor shortages. I would compile all relevant data and record any disparities in 401(k) provider reports (Beland et al., 2020). This paperwork will be essential evidence in my defense of myself to business executives. Legality, honesty, and transparency are necessary in this situation. I would then speak with my boss in private about the deliberate breaking of federal immigration laws. I would talk about the likely results for the affected parties and the company. Violating immigration laws may lead to fines and harm to one's reputation. Legal compliance and moral business conduct are essential to the company's long-term success. I'll bring this up with corporate leadership if my boss and I can't come to an agreement. Legal counsel or the human resources division might be able to assist with this. Evidence from the investigation could be presented to show the seriousness of the situation and the consequences of non-compliance. I would highlight businesses' effective use of moral and lawful recruiting procedures. Convincing change is aided by demonstrating to rivals or business titans how important ethics and compliance are (Loganathan et al., 2019). It is possible to encourage organizational accountability by exchanging best practices. To strengthen my position, I would report potential violations to law enforcement or the Department of Labor. This is not intended to hurt the business; rather, it is done to emphasize responsibility and legality. Although the
3 company's management may believe that these authorities are dealing with more pressing issues, breaking immigration laws can have detrimental effects. It could not be beneficial for the corporation to change its unlawful worker policy. Reluctance among the leadership owing to a lack of workers and high costs could be an issue. Perception can be altered by a strong argument supported by business, ethical, and legal considerations. If the company's leadership put ethics and legality ahead of short-term earnings, this project would succeed (Kerwin et al., 2020). A positive result is more likely if the company's leadership recognizes the potential harm to the company's reputation, the well-being of its employees, and the necessity of a moral and lawful business environment. Whether I could change the policy would depend on my justifications, supporting evidence, and the morality of the company's leadership. Even in the face of opposition, I have to defend moral and legal practices in the hopes that the business and its workers will gain from them. References Beland, L. P., Fakorede, O., & Mikola, D.
