5.4 Assignment
Week 5 Reflecting on Learning Experiences
1. What new information did you learn (or what new connections did you make
with your own teaching) about STEAM investigations in this article?
STEAM involves integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. It
encourages a more hands-on approach and allows students to engage in problem-solving, critical
thinking, and creativity.
2.
How did the teacher, Mr. Dinh, use
spontaneous and planned observation
to
support the STEAM curriculum in the classroom? (Hint: Be specific and talk
about each one, he used both!)
Mr. Dinh used spontaneous observations, which are unplanned observations that occur during a
classroom activity. Mr. Dinh used spontaneous observation during snack time, using various
STEAM approaches, such as asking questions, reasoning, communicating, or collaborating. Mr.
Dinh also used planned observation to make careful observations and predictions, and he used
this knowledge to enhance the teacher-child relationship, mainly for lesson planning.
