1.
What three components of a computer system are the theoretical domains of the
Information Processing Model often compared to?
-
The three components of a computer system are keyboard, hard drive, and monitor
are often compared to the Information Processing Model of encodes, storage, and
retrieval.
2.
What is the average number of digits an adult can remember during a Short-term memory
test?
-
The average number of digits an adult can remember during a Short-term memory
test was seven plus or minus two.
3.
Define Effortful Processing and give examples of both maintenance and elaborative
rehearsal.
-
The Effortful Processing is defined by the required processing of the available
attentional capacity. In addition, a few examples of maintence would be repeating
words to understand a language and using study tools such as flash cards to study
for a test. Furthermore, a few examples of elaborative rehearsal would be learning
the definition of a word and utilizing imagery to visualize things that help represent
the definition of a learned word.
4.
Define Speed of Processing. Does it increase or decrease with age?
-
The Speed of Processing is defined by how quickly earlier stages of information
processing are being completed in society. In addition, the Speed of Processing will
decrease with age within the world.
5.
What is the difference between short-term memory and working memory?
-
There is a difference between short-term memory and working memory. To begin
with, short-term memory utilizes less cognitive strategies than working memory in
society. In addition, working memory needs significantly more attention than our
short-term memory as a result of less cognitive strategies to utilize within society.
6.
What three things influence working memory capacity declines with age?
-
The three things that influence working memory capacity declines with age are
storage capacity, the ability to distribute capacity to various tasks, and gradually
developing slower rates of information processing.
7.
Give at least one example for: implicit memory, explicit memory, semantic memory,
episodic memory, and prospective memory.
-
To begin with, an example for implicit memory would be dressing yourself. In
addition, an example for explicit memory would be writing a paper. Although, an
example for semantic memory would be comprehending content from a class in
college. However, an example for episodic memory would be someone’s first day at
college. Furthermore, an example of prospective memory would be remembering
plans that were made with your friends.
