O By merging the two hospitals, the Director could oversee both HIM departments. The Department
Supervisor could oversee transcription. The Transcription Supervisor could oversee the coders and the
transcriptionists. The assembly/analysts could be supervised by the Director. The ROI clerk could be
supervised by the Department Supervisor. The scanner techs could be supervised by the Transcription
Supervisor. The incomplete records could be supervised by the file clerks. The cancer registrar could be
supervised by the Director. This would save money by consolidate services. In a merging of two hospitals,
multiple considerations need to be given in order to achieve a successful merger.
O
Any restructuring plan needs to recognize personnel issues and positions that will be redundant. The
director may be able to oversee both HIM departments and the department supervisors; however,
having one department supervisor managing both departments will not be feasible as they are two
separate functions.
The transcription supervisor could supervise the coders, transcriptionists and
assembly/analysts.
One file clerk could supervise incomplete records and one person could serve as a
liaison between the two HIM departments for accounts receivable; this would in essence merge the
DNA/ROI clerk positions as one. Having someone with cancer registry expertise oversee the cancer
registrar would also be beneficial as this person could act as a consultant/liaison in that capacity.

what needs to be accomplished.

tools will help me develop, coordinate, and distribute activities for
what I have listed above. Utilize a GANTT chart in an Excel
spreadsheet too break it all down, create specific columns (tasks,
any predecessor tasks, duration of the task, beginning date, end
date, and who will be assigned to the task).
