Cruz 1 Ronald Cruz Professor Christopher Morales SLS1515 24 September 2023 Fast Food My assumption about fast food is that it is always unhealthy. I believe that fast food is high in calories, fat, and lacks essential nutrients. When the word fast food comes to my mind, I always think that fast food is always made with low quality ingredients and that is why sometimes can be inexpensive. First article Ultra processed Foods like Cookies, Chips, Frozen meals and Fast Food May Contribute to Cognitive Decline by the author Susan N. Burke. Susan N Burke is an associate professor of neurobiology and cognitive aging at the University of Florida. Burke argues that “ultra-processed foods including chips, sodas, and fast food, contribute to cognitive decline, particularly as people age.” Ultra processed food typically has a high number of additives, preservatives, and artificial ingredients. These foods are typically low in nutritional value and high in calories, sugar, unhealthy fats, and sodium. Ultra processed foods have been linked to various health issues like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Second article, the globalization of fast food has some benefits by the author Nishanth Uli. Nishanth Uli wrote this article for the campus newspaper at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, while a student. In this article Uli talks about the positive side about fast food. She said that fast food is readily available and can be quickly prepared, making it a convenient option for people with busy lifestyles or limited time for meal preparation.
Cruz 2 My opinion on this topic is the same one as previous. I strongly believe that fast food can be inexpensive, but putting ultra-processed food into your body can dangerous. Especially if you have a healthy lifestyle.
